I collected these petals during a trip to Thailand, where bougainvillea blooms in the most unbelievable shades of pink and magenta. After drying and pressing them, I arranged each one by hand into this piece.
Bougainvillea petals are paper-thin and delicate, but they hold color so well — even after weeks of drying.
It’s my way of preserving the life and color of the plants I fall in love with.
Also, my cat insisted on helping the whole time (mostly by sitting in the middle of everything).

You didn’t show the finished product. I feel cheated.
I love the process and the cat is added bonus 🙂 the little bit of green leaves is a nice contrast to the petals. Lovely!
Truly bold to allow your assistant so close to such delicate work.
Fun fact! The pink and purple ‘petals’ are actually bracts (specialized leaves). Their flowers are tiny and white.
It’s so pretty! And what a perfect souvenir 🙂
