Greenhouses can be amazing or the worst thing ever if you don’t manage these 3 things.

  1. Thanks for sharing. I have a 10×10 deck that I transformed into an enclosed greenhouse using 10ft 2x4s, hardware cloth, & Plastic. I keep it warm over the winter with 10 – 45 gal garbage cans(rain barrels)

  2. I have a 10 x 16 greenhouse. I'm in Montana so we still freeze this time of year. I just have cold weather crops growing right now in the raised beds. I make a low tunnel over them and put a string of Xmas lights around my plants, keeps it at about 40 at night. My lettuce is doing well

  3. Great video Luke! I converted an old shed that we had on the property into a greenhouse a few years ago and this video has some great tips.

I have committed to keeping it completely green – meaning zero electrical power. Everything we have installed has been 100% solar – which is great except I am struggling to find a solar heat source that will keep the temperature optimal during the early spring when the overnight temperatures are still quite low.

Right now I have seedlings inside our home but with pets and limited spots in our windows I'm stuck growing 1-2 types of seeds at a time; I really need to get things to optimal levels in the greenhouse so I don't have to wait until late May to use it.

Thank you for your knowledge and sharing your expertise with us! I've really enjoyed your content these past couple years.

  4. Thank you for the info we have a 80ft x30ft we just put up ! all that’s left is the plastic and setup inside 😅 can’t wait to start using it ! I live in desert in California so it will be wonderful for my winter to really extend what I can grow then I was going to experiment by rolling the sides up in late spring and putting on a shade cloth to see if I can use during the summer ??? We will see ❤

  5. I also watch Millenial Gardener because He is located in my state of NC. I watch a few channels, but these two are the ones that I really enjoy. Not to take anything away from all others, because I like them all, even ones in the UK. I just watch them all for different reasons and appreciate the hard work put into their videos. The point of mentioning the former channel is that he uses 60 gallon pickle barrels to keep his citrus and avocados alive in winter along with C9 lights where possible to keep them alive where technically they can't be grown. They are beautiful and thriving, He is, however, in zone 8b on the coast.

  6. In Michigan if you wait until the first week of April to plant in your greenhouse, you wouldn't have all these other problems to contend with.

  7. I have an Amazon greenhouse that is 8 x16. My daughter got it for me last Mother's day. I love that it has 8 windows and I open them all every day that's above 40 degrees. If it's lower I only crack them. I will utilize the door screens on either end once the tems warm up and stays at least 50 at night. No way to warm it up right now but I'm thinking I may be able to put a fan in it. I need to buy a heater….but that will be for next year. Can only do so much. I am going to have to reseed some things….but I'm ok with it…..for now

  8. I use a thermometer from my vivosun seed heating pad to turn on my furnace when the temperature drops. It so cool it comes with a normal plug that it turns on and off depending on what temp you have set for

  9. Next time, show us the mold and the algaes you're talking about in a close up or with a macro lens if you have one. We are learning better when we see.

  10. I tried a space heater on my greenhouse. It didn't get it warm enough. I have to bring my plants inside on cool nights

  11. I am in north central South Dakota and this year I will have a greenhouse from Harbor Freight up and running. It may be late but it is together except a wood frame inside it needs to be made. They have reinforced it and put automatic vent openers in it. Hopefully it will last a while. Not sure at all how it will work up here! Excited to try! Seeds are started inside our house with more I need to do.
