  1. Hey, thanks for this awesome idea. I wonder too, about squash vine borer. Do you have to deal with that, I'm in Maryland and we get it really bad

  2. Just ordered greenstalk lid for our greenstalk tower. Your code did not work unfortunately. Just letting you know in case others have a problem as well.

  3. Oh my goodness I'm so excited to hear what you would do in a greenstalk if it was your only way to plant!!! Thank you. Does anyone know if this is a better sale than their mother's day sale?

  4. It used to be so frustrating dealing with pests. I still have to deal, but worst case scenario is the chickens get the spoils and turn it into eggs. My garden still feeds me well!

  5. I have bought a Greenstalk using your code for the last 2 years. I struggled last year with my plants and when I pulled the soil out this year to refresh it was very light weight , full of roots, and just crumbled. I changed up my filler a bit this year and we will see. I am seriously thinking of planting ever bearing strawberries in one this year.

  6. A kid's favorite crustasean has so many names! Roly-polys, pill bugs and wood louse are ones I know them as. In the UK they call also them cheesy bug, cheesy bobs, cheese log and chiggy pig. ❤

Personally I think they have a pretty fun scientific name to try and say. Its kind of cute too, like picadilly sort of. Its just the first part of their scientific name… 'Armadilillidium', Amaradil-illidium. lol… 😅 The supercalifragalistic of bug names. 😂 Get the kids to practice that one.

Jess, I had that same issue in Portland but the wood was in the 4 way soil mix most companies make in our region.

  7. Diatomaceous earth tends to take care of garden pest and milky spore for Japanese beetles in my experience

  8. YES!! Figure out the cause of the problem, and THEN if possible, figure out a natural solution

  9. About sunflowers, I will be having a bumper crop of Black Oil Sunflowers under my bird feeder. The local birds are starting their own garden!

  10. I wonder if putting the potato slices farther away from the plants, say, put a slice between plants to draw them away from the plants, and less chance of the critters snacking on them. Might be worth an experiment.

  11. Jess rollypollies or what I call wood lice usually only eat rotting plants or fungi. I think your problem is probably attributed to the woodchips you have surrounding your plants.

  12. I can totally attest to the fact that the pill bugs LOVE potatoes. They ate my entire crop 2 years ago. I quit trying to grow potatoes because of them.

  13. Love your approach to gardening and your thrill at finding the ultimate potato solution to the Great Imbalance! You make me smile!🌞🌻🙏💕

  14. I’ve had issues with snails. It’s definitely getting better but it’s persistently smushing them when I see them. I’m completely with you though! I’ve been trying hard to find balance too. I don’t use anything in my garden. My dog, cat, and special garden chicken, and I hang out in my garden. The birds eat and drink, the bees, the dragonflies, butterflies… I want a safe space for everyone in my garden. Except the snakes… that I can’t deal with at all. 😂
