Hello!

I have no idea what kind of cactus this is. When she dropped it off, the largest one was not going sideways.

I have been watering a very small amount once a week. He is currently in the corner of my dining room and gets indirect light. I am debating putting him out on our porch (We live in Georgia, south of Atlanta)

Can I cut these where the dried looking brown line is and repot/propagate them? What are the black fuzzy things on the largest cactus?

How do I rescue Richard and his children? She didn’t want to give him to me but my niece is only 1 and didn’t learn not to touch after the first incident. She has texted me to check in and I didn’t know how to reply. “Richard appears to have ED” doesn’t spark confidence.

Thank you in advance.

no you cannot propagate a cactus cutting. you can attempt to remove the entire baby with some roots and prop that, but its 50/50 on survival. cactus are trickier like that.

looks like the big momma might be rotting or reaching. you can definitely put it outside, cactus cannot survive in indirect light. however, put it in the shade and slowly move it into the sun so you don’t burn it. it will start needing more water over time.

on water… does it need water once a week? or are you just watering it blindly? the soil should be fully dry when you water. look through the hole in the bottom of the pot to tell. or put a popsicle into the soil and when it’s totally dry, you can water again.

for your bent momma, you can use a skewer and string for support and see if you can slowly bring it back up over time. the bottom is definitely dead on the outside, which is probably why it fell (fixing watering and giving it light for real will help), but that doesn’t mean the inside water channel it dried out too.

the black looks like mold. you’re likely drowning it
