So I have a bunch of little mini air plants. Honestly, I kind of forget about them and they are still in great shape! Sometimes I go over a month without watering them.
3 weeks ago, I got three Tillandsia and they all have brown spots and brown tips already.
I water them once so far by soaking in filtered tap water for 30 minutes. Just got fertilizer from Amazon but it has not been delivered yet.
I Keep them in indirect but should be plenty of light(I think). It’s the same lighting as the ones that are in good condition so I’m assuming it’s fine.
In your experience, are these more finicky/hard to to care for than the little dudes?
In the pics shown they are wet. I just watered them for the second time so color isn’t “true”.
They are so freaking pretty I want to be a good plant mom and keep them for years if they die I am sure to have a decent pity party for myself😂

This looks like sunburn to me. Are you making sure to dry them out of the sun? If they get sunlight while drying, they can develop spots like this.
It looks like a fungus. I just learned about this

Mine would look like this if I didn’t de-chlorinate the water I would submerge them in. I would leave a large bucket of water out over night and then submerge the following day.
That’s the start of black sooty mold, often from damp and mildew. Improved airflow and mist less (soak more) should improve it
Found a great natural suggestion for fungus on air plants on google, can’t post pictures but , one is cinnamon water, baking soda and even garlic water. Next came capt jack
Mine hate me too. I’m working on it. No tips, just here to commiserate.
