No where near enough. It wants full sun or as close as possible.

That is a normal decorative light bulb which does not have the correct wavelength (spectrum) of light. Its not nearly enough for almost any plant. Best light is sunlight, so put it near a window (preferably east or south window) or buy growlights, they run for about 20 bucks on Amazon.

This looks like a hostage situation. Please get a full spectrum bulb for this baby if you can’t get it into a good window.

my neighbour in the tropics had a plantation of aloe vera in the garden. full sun

If it’s not more light than full sun, it’s not too much.

How long are you leaving it on for?
I got a light reader thing & it made a huge difference with light placement (how far & where to place on plant)

A halogen bulb would be better than this. I’m not sure if your camera is doing you dirty, but even the color of that lamp says it’s not full spectrum.

UVA/UVB lights. Aquarium lights. Halogen bulbs. White light.

Damn ppl think the fish community can be harsh, post anything in a plant community

Was she deprived of light before? Did she come to you open armed like that?

It IS a plant light. It is one of those pink grow lights. I was confused when I first got one of these too, but my plants are in love with that thing.

    [why they are pink](https://rwwgreenhouse.voices.wooster.edu/why-is-it-pink/)

Op, if you can’t try get it a little closer, that would be good, but I do have succulents under mine that are not any closer than yours and they are not suffering; they are putting out new shoots actually.

Everyone is cracking me up saying it’s not full spectrum.

OP, I’m NOT an expert, but I’ve done a little research when getting grow lights. What humans see as red light doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not the “right” light. White lights are often added to plant lights bc we don’t necessarily like a bunch of red lights in our homes.

Google “PPFD Aloe Vera”. Does your box tell you the ppfd at certain distances from the plant? Or read anything that says “µmol/m²/s”?

I thought this was a shit post on the cj sub 😂😭

Just put it in a window. I had mine in a south facing window. I put it in a bigger pot, about a gallon ceramic and it ended up massive!

  14. Nah. Aloes grow out in the desert in full sunlight. If anything, this isn’t enough. Put the poor thing in a window or move it closer to the light.

Yo, I have some Walmart lights too. They actually seem to be working ok but I have a window helping too. The combination is great if you can do that, if not maybe move the light directly above the plant.

  16. Just put it in any window. Aloes will adjust easily. I’ve had one in a window that never gets direct sunlight for over 5 years and it’s just fine. My cat rubs and chews on it too. I would never use a light for an aloe.

You can get apps that measure the intensity of light in areas id highly recommend getting one of those apps and measuring the amount of light its actually getting, this is usually measured in foot candles. Aloes usually need 1600 foot candles

On the windowsill with lots of sun and by other plants. Remember plants are alive.
Looks like a lonely, dark situation.
May I ask what influenced your placement/lighting decision?
