I’m currently have one of my Haworthia (H. cooperi x comptoniana) blooming and am waiting on a few more to open their flowers to pollinate. I also currently have a Gasteria ‘Little Warty’ half way through its blooms so I figured I might try hybridizing the two.
Has anyone had any success hybridizing H. cooperi or comptoniana with Gasteria? Most of the photos I see online of Gasterhaworthia hybrids involve Haworthia species that look a lot more similar to Gasteria, rather than the species that are common with Haworthia hybridizers (comptoniana, bayeri, etc.) I’m curious if there’s a genetic line where the two genera differentiate far enough and will no longer successfully pollinate each other.

I think it’s usually Haworthiopsis that will cross with Gasteria, but I’m sure there’s some weird ones out there that somehow worked. I’d give it a try and see what happens. I wouldn’t be prepared to get anything attractive out of it though.
One of the best looking gasterhaworthias is battenkoel from hedonic_haworthia on inst. It’s a Gasteria batesiana x koelmaneorum hybrid. There are not many documented haworthia x gasteria hybrids though but you can find some in the “hybrids and cultivars of the succulent asphodelaceae V1” book. “Flipper” (gasteria sp. x H.Pygmaea) looks pretty nice
