In this video, I show how to plant potatoes in 5 gallon buckets. It’s important to grow the potatoes at the correct depth. There should be 4 inches of soil at the bottom of the bucket, and then the potatoes should be placed on top. The potatoes should be covered up to the 10 inch line. The potatoes should be sprinkled with sulfur for two reasons. It will help the plant uptake nutrients, and it will keep the potatoes from rotting in the bucket. Having proper drainage holes will also keep the potatoes from rotting. It is important to fertilize the bucket with bone meal, it helps with strong root growth. Having the buckets off the ground helps with drainage and it makes it harder for ants to get into the bucket.

My wife and I consume a lot of fresh eggs which means we create a ton of egg shells. We dry out the egg shells, and then put the egg shells in a grinder until the egg shells become a powder. Viola! Free Bone Meal. Great video "Gardening with a Bear." Also, we don't harvest the potatoes until we are ready to eat them which means the unharvested potatoes remain in the soil. Our unharvested potatoes stay preserved in the soil until we need them!!!

As is, I have a yearly bounty of grapes, asparagus, and strawberries. My seasonal garden varies because of my sometimes overly overcast/humid growing season. I am SO glad I stumbled upon your videos (fertilizer from weeds and this one). We have dogs and cats so I can’t use toxic fertilizers. Definitely going to try the weed fertilizer. I have been reusing my soil for years. This year I did something different. I purchased a cement mixer for HF. I have 25 – 25 gallon buckets and it took me a week to refresh the buckets. I was done in 2 days with the mixer.
The only issue i have is that I don't think I could eat that many pickles to get those buckets.
Not being rude or anything but what is “suffer”? (I believe that’s what is being said) Is it commonly named something else or is this a nickname for something? Otherwise amazing video and super helpful! Just trying to follow all the steps.
