  1. Dear Mark, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me how to safely remove MASSIVE bird-of-paradise plants which are up against asbestos fences??? PRETTY PLEASE??? xx South of Perth, WA

  2. I’m in Hawaii. Do you have slugs & snail problems? If so how do you keep your containers safe? My neighbors ducks come over & eat the slugs. The African snails are big & one came Al the way up to my back porch/lanai & killed my Meyer’s Lemon tree in container. I was told that copper wire repels them. I tried being nice the 1st time I took & threw it way into back yard. The buggah came back a 2nd time & I tried numerous ways to kill it. I ended up pouring bleach on it. OMG it screamed a blood curdling sound. I killed it after trying many pesticides bleach is the only thing that worked. Slugs crawled into my hose. I’ve since put ziplock bag & zip ties on both ends when disconnected. Slugs stink very bad.

  3. I have to grow in containers. I'm 74 years old and I can't grow in the ground anymore. I started growing in large containers about 10 years ago. I would plant a couple each year to get used to them. Now I have several. My brother was a landscaper and I got a lot of big pots from him. I have a lot of success. I especially love the tomatoes.

  4. I built a raised bed with an attached stand for 5 gal buckets so I could get the ease of buckets and the size of a raised bed. It has really expanded my growing ability. Thanks Mark!!

  5. Yep. The one biggest drawback in my experience is that you have to water more when you grow plants in pots and containers.

  6. The easiest way is to do it hydroponically, in water. Never dries out and with proper nutrients it will be bountiful.

  7. It's a pity that YouTube doesn't allow for attachment pics to be posted in comments. I would have loved to show my very small garden. Raised bed. All rectangular, beds..layer flat on a concrete floor in the yard. Lots of spinach.. potatoes… tomatoes.. broccoli..onions from scraps (white and red) ..mint (even tho I'm struggling with them..they finally taking root.. habanero seedlings. I've just run out of garden mix soil, but as and when I get money to spare..I buy a bag or two. R23 a bag😢😭..but it's a start
