First time home owner in first spring, did I choose well?
Decided to pull the trigger on the Honda hrx. I’ve got .5 acre, with tight rocky obstacles and some awkward slopes. Come Saturday morning, I hope I chose well! What do y’all think of the hrx?
After using an electric mower, I could never go back. It’s so nice not having to go get gas and I can mow whenever I want without being an asshole neighbor

This is probably the best gas powered walking mower you could buy.
Deck is corrosion free. Engine is stout and reliable. Parts are plentiful for upkeep.

I got the HYA version of this a month or so ago. Very impressed.
Definitely change the oil after a couple hours of use the first time (manual says 5 hrs). Was amazed how dirty it was.

I bought a new Honda push lawn mower in 2018 and it still runs like new.

For .5 acre and depending on how often you mow, I’d get tired of the 21” deck real quick. But with your tight obstacles maybe that’s your only option.

Is that up for debate? The Honda mowers were the best ever put to market.

I hope you like it because that thing is gonna last forever .

Almost no one is ever sad they bought a Honda.

I owned an Hrx for 15 years and now use an Ego. The Hrx is absolutely fantastic – I remember my first mow being extremely impressed with how pristine the cut was even though I was mulching, the yard looked manicured. No visible yard debris left behind. The engine purred for all 15 years – no sputtering ever. Honda mower engines are legendary for reliability. You can buy inexpensive annual maintenance kits from Amazon with oil, air filter, and spark plug.
I am very happy with my Ego (20 pounds lighter and even less maintenance), but I still have great memories from using the Hrx. You can’t go wrong with an Hrx.

This is the same mower I just bought. It’s awesome

Honda is discontinuing mowers. You are 35 years late. Better luck next time

Yup. You got the good one. Take care of it..

I used to push mow half an acre with a small house where the west end had a tree line on a small ridge. Took over an hour to mow and trim.

How much did you pay?
I was about to get the same one from Home Depot.
I looked at getting an electric EGO but the warranty doesn’t have good reviews.

Excellent choice! Have fun mowing your first lawn and welcome 😁🫡

if I wanted a gas mower, Honda would be it
I’m on the electric train now but Honda makes a great gas mower.

I’ve had this exact model I bought at the end of the year sale for maybe around $550 pre-covid. Thought it was expensive, but every spring I pull that baby out, put some fresh gas in and check the oil, and she starts up in one pull.
I’ve got about a third of an acre and it’s perfect for that size. I think you’d be okay at a half acre, but I’d personally start looking at a rider around that size.
The good news is you’re going to get some good exercise in.
Enjoy it, you made an excellent choice.

I thought they stopped selling them?

You’ll love it. It’s been trouble free for me completely over the last 5 years or so.

Had one loved it until I mulched leaves. Got all clogged up after that. Finally broke down and went with EGO for my small yard. Love it

You can never go wrong buying anything with an Honda Engine.
