It looks like a Yukka? They’re pretty heart, we’ve had them come back from cutting at the soil line… but I don’t know! Maybe some rooting hormone and damp paper towels wrapped around the broken end??? Also if freshen up the brake as well- I am making a lot of assumptions here so take everything with a grain of salt

Looks like Yúcca. Yes u can save it. Make a better cut, put it either in water until some roots show up or straight into soil.

If you’re thinking of keeping it i’d be giving it much checking over for pests, that might be why it was discarded. You could take all the dead leaves off, they’ll probably pull off. Like someone else said, chop the bottom again with clean secateurs. Not sure what it is so I won’t suggest how to prop as it could be leave to dry over or get straight in water

My cat knocked ours over and the top broke off like this. I honestly didnt know what I was doing, stripped some of the dead leafs off, and put it in a cup with water, had roots in a week or two, and its sitting by me as im typing this now, still alive and healthy

Sure that looks like a yucca. They are quite tough.
Trim off all the dead leaves, trim off the bottom so it’s a clean cut (this may not be necessary idk but I always do it), let it air dry for a few days to prevent rot, then stick it in very moist potting soil or a soilless mix like vermiculite. You may need to prop it up somehow, but I think you’ve got enough stem there to jam it into soil and it will hold. (If you choose a soilless mix you’ll need to repot later in proper potting soil). Keep away from direct sun while it rests and sends out new roots. Keep soil/mix moist for first few weeks. It will root.
Oh, and check for scale or spider mites before you get started, just to be safe. I don’t see any sign of infestation in these photos, but check closely.
