Neighbor had a fire going in their fire pit and lit their yard on fire, which then spread and burned most of my back yard (no property or people damage thankfully). It's late March and I'm in central Minnesota… What should I do at this stage to help out come back healthier than ever?

  2. Just let it come back. Burning it is about the best thing you can do to grass this time of year.

  3. Just rake it out, grab some seed, and throw ‘er down. $20 says that’s the greenest patch of your entire lawn this next year. Carbon = gooooooood.

That title made me think I was having a stroke.

Thank him and then rake in some seed.

I bet, that even if left alone and nothing done, that spot in your lawn will be greener than the rest this year

If my neighbor *accidentally* burnt down my dormant Bermuda, I’d buy him a case of beers…

This is obviously a challenge to a battle. Only logical response is grill naked this summer in plain sight.

Wait for that section to be the greenest part of the yard this summer. I really wish I could do that do my lawn.

It will come back. No need to freak out. I’ve burned fields before, and it’s fine.

Nothing concerning here, stuff happens. Don’t let it ruin things. Soon you won’t even know. I’d throw some seed out and let it be

Thank him! That area will be so thick and green

  13. Thank him later when your yard looks better than his

It’s fine. We do controlled burns in our fields all the time to keep down invasives and weeds and two or three weeks later it’s all green again, you’d never know it was burned. Now if it was a bonfire area that burned in one spot hard for hours then yeah you’ll need to rake it and put down seed. But just a quick field fire which is what that looks like, no big deal at all.

it will grow back fine.. water fertilzer no big deal.

My family grew up in the rural United States and burning our lawns each spring was a rite of passage. Seriously.

I’d kill for that to be my back yard 😫

So the burn will actually make it come back healthier. This is a common tactic used down South.

Just don’t expect anything good into Summer. It’ll take some time. Get him to buy you some seed from Twin City seed, Resilinace or Tuff Turf would be good options. Fertilizer and water as needed.

And yes, he should definitely pay for whatever you need…if you were to ask.

If you read that title in the voice of Ricky from Trailer Park Boys it makes perfect sense

Yeah. Burn the rest of it and thatch it. reseed. Add a nitrogen rich fertilizer and water it. Bad ass grass

  21. Original_Ant7013

Nothing. It will come back healthier than ever because of the fire.

  22. Tight_Indication_739

that lawn is going to be bitchin’ next year. Shit happens, thankfully they didn’t burn down your home.

  23. Upbeat-Parfait6962

Your lawn is about to look great boss.

  24. portabuddy2

Nothing this is a good thing. Just needs some seed and water.

Carbon is fantastic as a nutriant. Might have even de-thached it a bit.

It’ll come back better than ever.

  25. Happened to me about a month ago and the grass is coming back wonderful. I’m in central Texas 8b.
