80 year old Jade plant, repotted/fixed up 3 years ago, has maybe been watered 2x in the last year…. can this be resurrected?

Thank you for posting to r/plantclinic!

It looks like you may be asking about a cactus or succulent. In addition to any advice you receive here, please consider visiting r/cactus r/succulents for more specialized care advice.

A common problem with cacti and succulents is etiolation. This is when a succulent stretches or becomes leggy. Reply with “!etiolation” for advice.

Maybe just me but I’d start by watering it

As a backup, you could also take some of the leaves and put them in water so they grow roots and then repot them.

it doesn’t look happy, but jades are resilient, might not be too late if you start infrequent deep waterings with at least a week dry time in between. Don’t overwater those poor weak roots or you might kill it for real.

Give it one good soak, you may have to submerge the pot if possible for 15 or so minutes, or water it several times in the span of 20-30 minutes to get every bit of dirt wet. Then you should leave it alone until the soil dries out. It may have lost some roots to dessication so you need to be careful with watering it too much at this point.

The really wrinkled branches are dead for sure. Id water it really well and start pulling the more obviously dead parts off. They are resilient but it will definitely be a lot smaller when you figure out what’s salvageable.
