My layn size is about 0.7 acre and I'm located in NJ. Got this proposal recently. First time homeowner so don't really have previous reference points but my 1st thought it was higher than expected.

It’s one of those things where you either pay a premium to have it done or figure out how to do it for yourself and save the money. These prices don’t seem crazy for your lot size. It’s the cost of chemicals + person driving to your property + the time they take to apply or test. Seems reasonable in the current market.

If you own a football field it sounds about right.

  3. Shit that’s expensive. Granted I’m in WI but in 2023 when I last paid for fertilizing, the company was charging me $160 for 1.0 acres.

Seems fair for a .7-acre yard in NJ. The labor costs are going to be over half this price. I would be inclined to do all this myself.

  5. Why are they including a lime treatment even though they haven’t done a soil test yet?

  6. The markup is crazy! You could literally do this yourself for around $20-25 each treatment and that’s using quality fertilizer like Lesco.

I’m in south Alabama. This would run about $100-150 per app.

  8. No no no no they don’t put out what you think they do be very carful hiring a company to do your weed control and fertilizer. They will only fertilize the areas that need it and not the rest. They will not do what you think they are doing. Definitely not worth $1900

  9. That’s insane. I have a company come out for about $85 a treatment on 0.3 acres. It is in Texas but still.

  10. I’m in central NJ and i paid $91 after tax per trip out last year, 6x a year. Cancelled and bought an RB60 and now doing it myself for much cheaper.

Edit: With .3 acres of land front and back

  11. I pay 600/yr for 4 treatments

My lot is well over an acre, but lawn area only 17000 sf

If I had your size lawn (and it’s actually .7 acres of grass/treated area ) – the pricing here is decent

As others have said – I’d leave the lime cost off and only pay for it after a soil test

Uh.. I’d say absolutely not based on the fact that I pay about $65 per treatment of my lawn here in Ohio. I’d never pay $250 per treatment, that’s absurd.

Seems high. Obviously doing it yourself is much cheaper. But I’d get other quotes. Doubt you need lime.

  14. I am on the border of the Poconos and the Lehigh Valley. Just received my first treatment today and I pay $161 + tax. I have approximately 8500 sf of lawn.

  15. This is insanely high.

I am in Dallas with a lot size of 0.95 acres (about 0.65 acres of grass). I pay $61/treatment, prepaid for the year for a total of $301 with a 5% teacher discount.

$1900 is insane. You could do it yourself for less than $300.

  16. I’m at 13,000 square feet and pay around $600 per year.
