Can anyone give me pointers on how to re-attach my top shade? We had some pretty wild winds coming in from the west and it took my top shade half off! I have no idea how to re-attach it to the roof! I can jump on there or I'll fall right through. Here's a pic:

Probably not a long term solution, but if you attach some long ropes along the fallen edge, throw them over and tie them to eyebolts on ground posts on the other side, that might work.

  2. You might just need to get it back on the track and put wiggle wire in the channel to hold it. I can’t really tell from pictures how it’s attached. They also make straps to hold it down in the wind that you can out over the shade cloth.

  3. I have used the “rope method” already mentioned.

Another thought: if you build a temporary support — a piece of 1/4” plywood or sheathing and some 2×2 lumber screwed into the underside that spreads the weight out over several aluminum struts in the GH, you could climb up the ladder and ease yourself out into the plywood. This rig would also have to use the “rope method” for anchoring it to the other side. Screw in some 1×2 footholds on the top side so you don’t slip off. The size of the plywood and the support lumber is a compromise between being too heavy, and providing proper support for your weight temporarily while you attach the shade tarp.
