I was wondering if the brown at the base is a reason to be concerned. It isn’t squishy at all.
It has new growth, which only slightly reduces my concerns.
Also, is this a Tillandsia harrisii?
Any advice/answers would be greatly appreciated

Brown at the base for just the outside leaves isn’t a massive issue but it can still be an indicator of long exposure to moisture
