Gardening is wonderful – but garden design can be hard! And we all tend to make the same design mistakes!

Join me as I put together two garden concept designs for viewer gardens – and talk through some of the most common design mistakes as we go!

  1. Video was so very pleasing to watch and see the gardens unfold! I too am in Maryland and blessed with an expanse of lawn yearning to become garden! Our deer pressure is high and I am deep in a deer resistant/deer deterrent learning curve. … so TSMFS!

2 lovely large faux wicker chairs in the memorial garden would enhance the destination image and encourage peaceful meditation❤

  2. Best garden design video I’ve seen-by far! I’m a seasoned gardener in my house 30 years. But… both the house and yard were DIY projects that I had to handle as a newly single woman with sometimes 3 jobs so that I had the money to do my projects. During those years my ideas, time, skills and abilities changed, some of it for the better! E.g, an area on the south side of my yard that might be great for sun-lovers has become fairly shaded by volunteer trees that I failed to remove early and are now BIG. In all, I have created a backyard that people rave about. This summer I need to tackle the front and one side. I live in Denver, CO so high (strong sun) and dry. I refuse to do cactus and I’m reducing the amount of grass. Your detailed, thorough analysis and explanation were very helpful and you didn’t dwell on plants that you like. So, thank you. I’ll be watching for more.

  3. Prairie Moon nursery is a great resource for these native plants, plus detailed growing info! No, I don't work for them, I just really love them 😂

  4. Thank you so much, I love the design tips! Another bonus of native plants alongside crop plants is built in pest control. It is absolutely phenomenal how much less cabbage moths, hornworms, mosquitos, box elder bugs etc I deal with now that I’ve incorporated native host plants. 😊

  5. I liked the tall grasses you chose in the 2nd house, along the fence line. Can you share the name of the ones you showed there? Thank you!

  6. What an amazing job in planning these gardens. I hate I missed this opportunity. I have a brand new west facing bed with tons of perennials planned for our hot southern climate.
