Given enough time my garden has gotten to the point that I need little mulch because the beds literally shad out the weeds . Don’t get me wrong there are a few baddies that I hand weed but more and more I just lightly mulch in fall and let it roll .
Living in the front range here in Colorado YES the wind drives me insane.
In Kentucky and we also are quite behind in things coming out. Also bombarded by wind and storms and temperature swings. But that’s just Spring for us,
Incessant Weather, of any sort – be it wind, rain, sun – for prolonged periods of time…just drives me nuts! I like variety of weather… and I do like having 4 seasons in the region of where I live. A little bit of everything, and a nice balance… be it weather, or anything!
That catmint is the epitome of Spring trying it's darndest! How are your hollies on the side getting on?? Sorry you're having such bad weather. Of all the elements, I detest the wind.
Zone 6 Western PA – It seems the extreme weather conditions have been happening all over the country for the past six months or so, and many of us "jumped the gun" and started looking at our gardens as if it was already Spring. Thankfully all I did was some pruning and cleaning up while taking note as to what tasks I'll be taking on once the weather levels out.
I have two snowball bushes. I fight the squirrels and birds for the buds. Aggravating.
lol….i am in zone 6 massachusetts. You are only as far along as we are. You are ALWAYS months more advanced than us. That's crazy
It has been so windy here in Ohio, some nice sunny warm days but now changing to cooler temperatures unfortunately. I am so anxious to get out in my gardens!! I do have daffodils, hellebores blooming. Lilacs are starting to slowly leaf out. Grass has s greening up!! Your gardens always look beautiful!!
Hi Linda this is Kim from Canon City, Co letting you know we have almost identical weather conditions as you right now, although our growing period doesn’t really start for about another month it’s plain old, cold and windy. I am loving your garden again this year that redbud is magnificent. The weather’s gotta get better.❤️
We have that wind too and we had tornados about 1 block from me. No electricity for 6 days no gardening for me…..
So sorry Linda, better days are ahead, keep your chin up.
Your neighbors right across the street have very nice green grass….
We have been experiencing March winds, as well, and winter has taken its toll in Western NC. I'm worried about my garden and Little Miss Figgy. Gardening can be frustrating for sure. I'm so ready for the real spring to come forward.
Grew up in KS, now in PA for the past 30 yrs. I can tell you that the wind is something I do not miss!
That’s the one disappointing thing about gardening. A lot of all the plants blooms depend on the weather. But your redbuds look beautiful
I absolutely love you showing real life. We still have snow on the ground and it was bothering me, but its okay. Also we live in a new area that gets high winds several days throught tge year. And it is frustrating always picking up pots and lawn furniture.
Here in North Alabama we're having terrible winds. Tonight is a hard freeze after days of really warm weather. The extreme weather changes the past few years have been really hard on my garden.
Here in Central Pennyslvania it is horribly windy. Makes me crazy! So sorry for your garden. I have been feeling sorry for myself because little bunny fufu came along and ate all of my emerging tulips and my johnny-jump-ups. Gardening is hard. 🙂
Yes. The wind does make me a bit crazy. Where we live on the East End of Long Island, March is a very windy month. Sometimes it goes on for days. It’s almost like the Mistral they get in the South of France, which they say, does drive people a bit mad.
Thank you for showing us everything even the “uglies”. I find it helpful when I’m feeling a bit discouraged to remember that it’s not me alone that suffers in the garden.
Also thinking of all of you there in Oklahoma especially Kala 🙏 ,…all of you stay safe out there. I’m on the west coast of Florida and know all too well how much damage weather can do.
It all still looks nice to me!
Nature is invincible as you, dear Linda! The plants will be beautiful and healthy again.
They just need some water and Vater! I send my love and rain❤💦💥
I need that service in Washington
Sorry to hear about the bad weather, I live in a town called Holbrook NSW (Australia) and we do not get many windy days, and it drives us crazy when we do get a windy day, especially when it is very hot or very cold. I do not like wind at all. On a lighter note, your garden will recover and be beautiful as it gets warmer. Lets all pray you get some rain soon and you will be busy busy busy in your spring garden!
Feeling your pain here in New Mexico ! We’ve had horrible dust storms with extreme winds and it drives me nuts🤪 and it’s still cold❄️
I love the gold historical color on the houses in the neighborhood – a happy color!
Ijust went outside between the windstorms and noticed the only “plants” flourishing are the prickly lettuce weeds everywhere in our yard. I sprayed the ones in the lawn, but have to dig out the ones in the landscape beds. My daffodils are wind whipped! Tomorrow the garden clean up begins.
Linda, you're not alone. North of Tulsa. Worst winds ever. So discouraging. we are in this together. Gardening in Ok isn't for the faint of heart. We've had losses too. I'm thankful for your transparency.
