spray with weed b gone once a month until all thistles are gone

Looks like you might have a St. Aug style lawn.
I really like using an herbicide called Celsius in that type of grass.
That type of weed is not terrible to pull with a weed puller tool. Or by hand with some gloves.

I go nuclear on those since they have deep roots. I have a weed puller tool and I also spray the area with weed killer after I pull what I can so if I miss some root I hope the weed killer gets it.
It’s worked pretty good so far. Much less of those this year compared to last year.

I bought a house last year and am still pretty inexperienced with lawn care, but one thing I did learn is that getting your lawn into shape is more of a marathon, not a sprint. It may take you several seasons/years to really get your lawn into shape, depending on how much the previous owners took care or neglected it.
Firstly. Identify your main grass. For example, is it St. Augustine or Bermuda? My guess is that you have St. Augustine from the photo but I am not 100% sure. This is important because you should ALWAYS check the label on any of your weed killers or other products to make sure you dont accidently kill your grass. I almost threw Tenacity on my Bermuda (which wouldve killed it) because some lawn influencer youtubers were praising it as if it were the holy grail of herbicides without being clear that its really northern lawn thing. Always read the label and take what those influencers say with a grain of salt. They’ve spread a lot of misinformation in the last year, like saying peat moss is the best seed cover (its not), for example.
1. Pre-emergent herbicide. This prevents new ones from germinating. Note that pre-emergents do not kill existing weeds like post-emergents do. There are 2 times a year that it’s primetime to apply pre-emergent: in the spring, when soil temps are in the mid-to high 50s Fahrenheit, and in the fall, when soil temps are starting to fall below 50 Fahrenheit. You might be on the later end of primetime for this season, but throwing some down now is better than nothing, and will prevent new ones to pop up during the summer.
2. Getting your grass to take over and get as dense as possible. An ultra-lush thick bed of grass will outcompete and prevent weeds from growing. If you do have St. Augustine, that is a self spreading grass, so you want focus more on cutting it as its optimal mowing height, fertilizing it, watering it 1 inch per week in the summer (careful not too much water!).

Dig it out. After it rains will be easiest – with a spade

Both Celsius and 24D will work in your turf type.
I would step on these once before spraying. It breaks the core and opens the pores in the leaves. Helps uptake chemicals in thistle weeds.

Those are the most satisfying to pull by hand.

For some immediate care right now, you can start to get some post-emergent to spray on these guys. I find that these are pretty easy to pull out as well in its entirety using weed pullers[ like this fiskars one](https://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-339950-1002-Puller-Gardening-Removal/dp/B0030MIHAU/ref=sr_1_6?crid=22UECC6U23YEO&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.KvehBk8Whb54oGDdBweGVNQZUbwWmgo76Q2GC_IVZoYPbgafCiaRzEI48Pax2ipxxBNmjMCEOQW80cs7PfuTHKRIb2AeYXBl7VzV_IhOJkTzFnVbXvy7t0Y9tDA2Ud_4ZPIL11N8L9MgLz8wsdm7aPuKddCZDfWnXF7jgF0h5ijHs1l4C3IFpGqMpXS8n46Mzi1lfjc3PF6Ttmj-mk3frGlEmTF1CHpwklSmz1EmaGo9dJNeCmmZLnXZE8sLM4Rk9dFKVwkZG-3UTlcyJzqILAs_R4iFGoKCqTpx02-Q_9MmjEulQXrk1kkhyGvde6rCQjfR7LDHoNzMNVoyBMmTFFHdgFevlzzympUTwt99sWo1zmw_xmWtth0OXMJ2qt2h9J1aMDC0tMYnAwmMXJqrfGONnE8ztNK3Pc92iDyb-PSVO8tTxzNUsGpnmLhSuaoG.r04n0VZOZe6Np5zjYtOvZRsxvOsXbVEljM8gWpkB0Wk&dib_tag=se&keywords=weed%2Bpuller%2Bfiskars&qid=1742401537&sprefix=weed%2Bpuller%2Bfiskar%2Caps%2C141&sr=8-6&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.9fe8cbfa-bf43-43d1-a707-3f4e65a4b666&th=1) or like this [grampa’s weeder one too](https://www.amazon.com/Grampas-Weeder-CW-01-Original-Remover/dp/B001D1FFZA/ref=sr_1_7?crid=22UECC6U23YEO&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.KvehBk8Whb54oGDdBweGVNQZUbwWmgo76Q2GC_IVZoYPbgafCiaRzEI48Pax2ipxxBNmjMCEOQW80cs7PfuTHKRIb2AeYXBl7VzV_IhOJkTzFnVbXvy7t0Y9tDA2Ud_4ZPIL11N8L9MgLz8wsdm7aPuKddCZDfWnXF7jgF0h5ijHs1l4C3IFpGqMpXS8n46Mzi1lfjc3PF6Ttmj-mk3frGlEmTF1CHpwklSmz1EmaGo9dJNeCmmZLnXZE8sLM4Rk9dFKVwkZG-3UTlcyJzqILAs_R4iFGoKCqTpx02-Q_9MmjEulQXrk1kkhyGvde6rCQjfR7LDHoNzMNVoyBMmTFFHdgFevlzzympUTwt99sWo1zmw_xmWtth0OXMJ2qt2h9J1aMDC0tMYnAwmMXJqrfGONnE8ztNK3Pc92iDyb-PSVO8tTxzNUsGpnmLhSuaoG.r04n0VZOZe6Np5zjYtOvZRsxvOsXbVEljM8gWpkB0Wk&dib_tag=se&keywords=weed+puller+fiskars&qid=1742401537&sprefix=weed+puller+fiskar%2Caps%2C141&sr=8-7). However I have no sense of how big your yard is or how infiltrated your yard is with these guys. You don’t need to pull them all at once; 10 min a day goes a long way.
2 things that will keep them from coming back:
Carpet bomb with weed b gone
Gotta eat ‘em bro. Put ‘em in the belly
I live in Florida and these things are destroying my yard. Can’t even walk barefoot.
Celsius can take care of these and won’t damage the lawn
Scott step 1. Kills all weeds but leaves the grass alone. I use their 4 step system and it works amazing!
