  1. Hey there Ben. Great video as always. I have expanded over the last two or three years only to have my lovely wife retake the area and let it grow wild for the critters aka birds etc. My wife is 100% lovely tree hugger so I utilize what areas I can. Our front yard faces the south and my gardens face the North so…. I'm just blessed to have the property to be able to grow our own food.

  2. I'm going through a garden re organization. I discovered that the giant eucalyptus tree in my yard really loves raised beds. Like really loves them. So I'm converting to mostly containers using the framework of the raised beds to mount trellises. Also I already have tomatoes developing. Tucson, AZ.

  3. Last year I expanded to add fruit to my garden like strawberry, raspberry & blackberry. This year I expanded again and added asparagus and I'm going to try my hand at growing peanuts.

  4. Actually, my kids kinda did the expansion. They built me three-3 feet raised beds. One is still in progress they’re higher so I don’t have to bend down so which is a good thing because what I need to do is designate a certain plan to each bed. I’ve been so successful with things, but I had like a hodgepodge of things I have a front yard garden and a backyard garden the front against my gate. I try to grow things that trellis beans, cucumbers, and a lot of plants flowers in the back. It’s everything everything so what I did this year is trying to designate certain beds for certain things. One bed will be several types of peppers and then I have potatoes already started, but I need to make another batch for potatoes. I did very well with my cabbages except that I have critters that want to come and eat my things I’m going to have to work that out too because they ate three of my beautiful cabbages and I do melons really well in the small personal melons and some small watermelons. I just gotta get it planned out. I’ve learned over the four years. I’ve been gardening. I need to do better putting things in order and I’m hoping to see is the year.🌱
I enjoy these videos that you create makes a person think and appreciate what we have going on as well. Condolences for your grandma. 🙏🏽💜🌱

  5. Great video Ben sorry for your loss. The knowledge sheared by the parents and grandparents can't be replaced by a book. By listening we can learn and expand on their knowledge.

  6. Im definitely going to expand my garden space. Plan on 4 new beds over the next couple years. Also down on the property where the Fruit trees are, i plan on expanding perennials (where zones actually matter. Lol) more and more blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, asparagus, gooseberries, currants. I doubt i will ever olant geape vines again with how 30 years of neglect let those bad boys take over and kill off a few fruit trees my Dad had. Blackberries go wild too but those are manageable. Cutting all of that out right now. Will keep some back berries but only in certain spots like I did the wild salmon berries.

  7. My wife wants me to plant more Bell type peppers. I do not want to add anymore raised beds so I have decided to plant in 10 gal grow bags a row of about 8 bags along side my raised beds. We will freeze the extra and also share with the neighbors!!!

  8. So sorry for the loss of your Grandmothet. You were blessed to have her for that long and to have learned so much from her.

  9. Last year, I had so many plants and pots on my patio that my efforts were diluted and I felt overwhelmed. This year, I will keep it simpler and add things slowly. I plant to narrow down my efforts to those plants I know grow well and focus on pruning, fertilizing and watering those curated plants more successfully. We are still eating those garden products we stored and canned from last year.

  10. I expanded my garden into 3. I will be combining 2 of those gardens into one larger garden, my original and one i started 2 years ago. ( I 20:22 have to replace my fence around the garden so just going to combine both)
Looking like i might be able to move my cold weather seedlings out to my greenhouse tomorrow to start hardening them off as its starting to warm up to just above freezing ( snowing again today ugh). Once my soil unthaws i can move them into the garden.

  11. Great video 👍🏼Your grandmother sounds like a valuable wealth of knowledge. You are blessed you had her for so long. Sad to see that generation and their invaluable knowledge and contribution is fading every day. Makes it more and more important to pass OUR knowledge on to the next generation, and so on.

  12. Sorry about your Grandma, but she was very smart. Glad you chose to listen to her. Thanks for all your advice. Lets me know I am on the right track. My goal is to eat straight from my garden. I will also have fruit trees, a few chickens (eggs, and meat), 2 goats (for milk, butter, and cheese, and meat) and a fishing pond. I will be moving in 9 days to a much warmer climate and and starting a brand new homestead. Will take everything I have learned from you and several others and plan my garden lifestyle with the knowledge I have been collecting. ❤

  13. Disabled, back and hips, I built a Mad Max Thunderdome, using trellising vegetables and fruits in buckets. It’s 15×20, and most of the harvest is plucked from the ceiling. I probably got over 500 lbs in tomatoes, cacuzza squash, and eggplants alone. I plan on tripling production this year.

  14. Definitely expanding for watermelons and then pumpkins! Considering tarping to kill the grass but that doesn’t seem to work too well down here in 8b Southern Miss. Recommendations welcome!

  15. So sorry for the loss of your grandmother.. she’s gone home, but left you with all her beautiful skills and memories that are forever.. Amen “The Lord watered it”

  16. Yes, defiantly need more growing space. I've got everything in the front yard at the moment, but will need to start garden bed in the back yard over winter for the spring. We don't have a huge block of land so if I need more room after that, I have to look at paying for an allotment which I'm not 100% keen on as I like just walking out my front door to garden.

  17. I need to expand by am limited on time. I plant to underpants my potted trees this year to keep weeds down and get a mini crop where I can

  18. We are a family of 8 with another on the way. We have a small garden. We are thinking of expanding it to grow more food to make a dent in our grocery bill. Your videos and podcast have been very helpful, thank you.

Also, sorry for the loss of your grandmother.

  19. I'm very sorry for your loss; please accept my condolences.

Much gardening love from Northeast Ohio. 💚💚💚💚💚
