Dead grass in bottom left happened around Halloween, figured someone spilled some sort of drink. But now all these other circles are starting to show. In Maryland so still somewhat cold. Are grubs a thing this early? Fungus?

  1. Do you have a dog? Looks kind of like urine burn

Dogs are peeing on your grass and they have diabetes or poor diet causing your grass to die

People are letting their dogs piss on your front lawn

Could be something else but from this distance it looks like dog piss.

I vote dog(s) as well. It is weird they seem to only appear on the walk to your door, normally dog urine is near the sidewalk.

Otherwise fungus is the next most likely culprit

Did you or someone fertilize recently? Could be the spots where you turned around and dumped too much in one area. If not that I would guess fungal issue of some sort. I don’t think it’s dogs either cuz yea you would see the spots down below too. Not sure why everyone is assuming it’s dogs

  7. This is odd. Do you have a lawn spraying company that spot sprayed an herbicide there?

Are you mowing your grass short, in order to not mow so much? Is the grass different heights in certain areas? This happens to my backyard when my mum comes over to mow. She struggles with the levels. She’s getting a new mower!

Possibly sun reflecting off something somewhere

If it’s dog pee, you would expect to see a ring of stronger growth around the edge of the dead spot, where the urine was diluted enough to just be a good fertilizer. Once your lawn wakes up, I guess you’ll find out.

If the sort of drink you were thinking about was dog urine, you are so spot on.

  12. Could it be salt damage from you salting your sidewalk?
