  1. Morning sis! I can’t wait to get going today plan on finishing the strawberry bed that I started last fall to get it ready for when the strawberries arrive. It is eight inches deep with a mix of horse, goat, chicken manure ,leafs ,small amount of wood shavings and coffee grounds a lot. Going another four inches taller and fence to keep the varmits out. Would you top of with peat moss or compost? Reading that strawberry plants like a little acidic soil. Thinking what’s in the bed might be more neutral.

  2. I’m always excited to hear your starting something that I have in my stash! I’m in Illinois zone 6. Keep those videos coming, my sister is my neighbor and we are both gardeners, this year she is seed starting for the first time and I have recommended your channel. We are having fun.

  3. Im starting "gold dust " alyssum from seed im in zone 7 Rhode Island . I have never started alyssum from seed, hopefully it works . The seed starting mix from job lot isnt that great , has a lot of chunks in it , any recommendations on where to purchase better variety? I like your content , straight to the point ! Have a great day

  4. Although we're in the same zone 5B, my last frost date is earlier – April 20 – 30th in Northern Illinois. I had great luck with growing alyssum from seed last year, so will start those again soon. My snaps, sweet peas, pansies/violas, salvia, chamomile seedlings are doing great and almost ready to go into the greenhouse to harden off. Yarrow is really slow for me, it's my first year with them. Vita, have you started those? I have over 25 other flower seeds to start this month, yikes!

  5. I have been fallowing you for the last couple of months and I have been doing all the things you have been doing. I live in MN but our last frost dates are the same. I have never had so much success with seed starting than this year. Thank you so much for the valuable information. This morning I woke up to my first bud on my Johnny Jump Up plants! I have shared your channel to anyone who I know who gardens.

  6. My alyssum are just now getting their 1st set of true leaves, already potted up one flat with one more to go.
I did grow alyssum last year but did not top them at all, will be interested in seeing when you do that.
I am curious, with all the seeds you start, how do you find room for them? I am already thinking I will run out of space and have not even started a bunch of stuff like tomatoes.
    Enjoy your videos, Stay Well!!!!

  7. Hi Vita! I winter sowed some Alyssum earlier this winter & am waiting to see the results. I was also thinking of doing some indoors & your video inspired me to do it! I think I have the white & royal carpet varieties. I wanted to mention that it you decide you’d like to sow more of the white variety, most of the Dollar Tree store have the white in small packs (4pks/$1.25). Question for you about the heat mat/lights. Because the cost of oil is expensive, I keep my house at 60°F. Chilly, I know. So I typically use heat mats under lights to germinate my seeds. However, depending on the seed, if it’s a cool weather “crop” I’ll either take them off the heat mats entirely or I’ll keep it on the heat mat but put several “risers” between them & the heat mats so they are warm’ish but not directly on the mats. Thoughts on that? Also, are you a master gardener or have a professional gardening background? The way you can list off the botanical names like it’s no big deal to pronounce makes me laugh because I butcher the names so bad I end up confusing people! 😂 Thanks for this very timely video & I personally like the individual seed starting videos by variety. I was however disappointed that our friend Winnie didn’t make an on screen appearance! 🐈😻

  8. How timely this video! I was just about to start my sweet alyssum seed and thought I should check and see if you had a video about it and up pops this one 😂
I’m a little confused about the temperature as the package I have ( Mr Fothergills) says to keep at 15C / 55F🤷‍♀️
My grow room is about 70F so I may keep them off the mat for now 🤞
Thanks for another great and timely video 🇨🇦

  9. I have winter sown some alyssum and also have a lot under grow lights. This is my first time growing this plant. I live in Georgia zone 8b and they have been flowering already and I will be planting them out next week. Today I started hardening off my indoor plant babies. So exciting!

  10. Alyssum is one of my faves, thanks for sowing it. This is the first time I've heard of pinching it back. Looking forward to seeing your progress with these seeds.

  11. Doing alyssum from seed for the first time this year. I have noticed you have been doing videos on a lot of the seeds I'm starting and I'm excited to follow along in the journey! Thanks for this content!😊

  12. Can alyssum be sowed and grown as a bunch together? I only ask because Botanical interest alyssum seed packet says to sow “a pinch of 20-30 seeds every 6inches. Thinning not required.”

  13. Hi, I don’t know if you have “Dollar Tree” stores near you, but they have those seeds for $.33 cents a pack. I’ve had great success with those. Also Wal- Mart sells $.50 cent seeds and they have both the white and pink(Red Carpet). I have had great success with those as well.
    Abundant Blessings…

  14. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I’m so happy you mentioned the pinching. I was on the fence with it but now will get that done. I do have a little bloom on one. I was very excited!
