In today’s video, I’m starting my 2025 gardening vlogs with the preparation for my new raised bed / sleeper border DIY project and removing the stones and timber sleepers through my bamboo tunnel so I can begin my hard landscaping path widening garden project – ultimately having fun in the garden making a proper mess! Joined by our two Dachshund sausage dogs, Max & Remi, with a soundtrack provided by Robin the Robin (who’s in a lot better mood with all the worms and bugs being uncovered!), it was a fun couple of hours in the sun where I at least made at start on my tropical style jungle garden plans for this year. I’d like to say you’ll get a lot of planting ideas, hard landscaping inspiration and gardening motivation from this video but, in reality, my garden ends the video a lot messier than when I started so you’ll have to follow the journey to see the full garden transformation revealed! You’ll have to be patient though, very patient…

Brilliant video George! I thoroughly enjoyed the sausage run! 😳🤣Remi and Max are so cute. You always make me laugh George which is the best lesson in life. Seriously your videos are just getting better and better and always lift my spirits. Sending you and your lovely family love and blessings xxx
As the old saying goes "You can't make an omelette without cracking an egg", George. In a few months all your hard work will be rewarded with your transformed garden. Looking forward to the next instalment…..or I could get the box set.
I thought that cable with your irrigation
Another great video. Nice to see you finally tackling some projects.
Looking forward to seeing how the new borders turn out.
Those rotten beams @12:55 just threw a huge wrench in all my garden plans, if they rot like that in only 5 years! Any advice on how to avoid that, like maybe use some concrete blocks as a foundation or something?🤔
Tree Fern Avenue 🤣😍
Hilarious! 8 ins? You and my hubby must be related! Keep these videos coming we love them💚🌴🐦⬛
The mess before the calm… All that effort, it will look AMAZING when it's all complete, along with the satisfaction that comes from knowing that you did it yourself! Good on ya!
Its good to see how the garden is changed and develops, great stuff. Are you going to do an overwintered update on Marks tiki garden? Did Mark go through with all his overwintering ideas? Did he get some of the land drain for his musa? We priced it up and it was cheaper to just buy a new 10 foot musa basjoo every year. Thanks George!
The enthusiasm of youth. I feel tired just watching it.
Never grow up, George!!!
Hi George, I have found that a garden is never finished and never will be, you will always find something new to improve upon it
Hi George – nice to see the t shirt in it's entirety hahaha! Another great vid! You really are inspirational in terms of motivation! I went to a lovely garden centre in Bath today and bought 2 DA small plants but the fronds are huge and a couple of male ferns to help fill the garden out for my party in May. It was interesting getting them all back on the train! I've bought a couple of canna rhizomes which I know is a gamble with the virus but these are certified disease free and this year's stock so let's see. Love how Remi likes to help you and also there was what sounded like a lovely Robin giving providing some background music! Cheers – Rich
Great video as always.
I love how big he thinks 8 inches is, lol.
Because of finding and binging on your videos this past week we have spend a couple of hundred pounds on tropical plants, different types of fatsias, cordelines, ferns, trachycarpus, and a whole bunch of other stuff I've forgotten the names of 😂 the "plantable" parts of our garden are a 50cm wide strip/border down each side of a rectangular 6 meter wide by 9 meter long bit of grass. We already have a bunch of stuff planted (hydrangeas, red Robin, bays, astilbes, foxgloves and other things) so I've got absolutely no idea where the 15 plants currently sitting in pots in our back garden are supposed to go 😂
Another excellent one! I do really enjoy videos like this, shows that even gardens that look as good as yours can get messy at times! Really rubbing in your springlike weather, as for me, the weathers been all over the place! Monday hit 16 degrees with sun, and it snowed on tuesday! Thankfully in a few days itll warm up again! Another great watch George!
How long is your bloody garden!?
😂😂 what an introduction, love it 👍
First 15 seconds. Just wow. Didn't expect that!😂
Sausage race 😂😂
Great video George 💪
😂😂👌👌👌👌
Definitely on the right track now George. I'm sure you'll get all your plants dotted in and may look even better. Max and Remy are so comical 🤣😂
I’d be staining that fence black…look great when the plants grow
Love watching how your garden changes x We’ve been painting benches, moving things, making room for new palms and planting seeds plus watering and feeding bananas in the conservatory- this year I’m aiming for 15ft! Xx
great progress so far! i think there is a nice sense of accomplishment with garden projects
Really enjoyed the video mate. My humble suggestions for improvements
1. Rather than just moving the long pieces of wood near the play area I would have liked to see unnecessary slow motion reps of lifting the beams above your head.
2. Slow motion turf being thrown into the wheelbarrow was appreciated but please slow it down even further with uplifting montage Rocky-esq music enhancing the visual experience
3. Remy's concentration span appears extremely limited. I'd like to see a slightly sarcastic piece of film footage where he "contributes" to the path building process by (in slow-mo) he moves a tiny stone from one side of the path to the other.
When the Oscar comes, I fully expect credit with a suitably tearful speech.
Yours truly
Signore Calzone
Like for the intro alone 😆
You made digging up a path entertaining! 😀 some good background singing aswell. Motivated me to get out tomorrow and carry on digging up my paths.
