In this video, I’m going to show you how to revive your Greenstalk Planter for spring. It is the secret to huge harvests of whatever you grow in your Greenstalk vertical garden. I’ve been growing strawberries in my Greenstalk planter and there’s a special way to handle them. Vertical gardening is easy with Greenstalk.

Perfect timing all of my strawberries died😢 I love my greenstalk planters. And I love your content!
Pretty cool, thanks
Thank you Brian.
I also use crab and lobster in each hole I make for my veggies.
How do you top the potting soil without covering the crown that has been my biggest issue with the Greenstalk and strawberries. I’m trying strawberries again this year and trying to make sure that my greenstalk is really full with damp patted down soil so that maybe it won’t work its way lower and lower throughout the year.
I am very disappointed that this is the 1st time I remember seeing you with a greenstalk. I have 3 green stalks. I have strawberries in 1 , and herbs in another. The 3rd I just got and haven’t planted it yet. They are on my deck so my free range chickens don’t eat everything. I use them for a kitchen garden and love it.
That crunch of the snail was so satisfying 😂
Thanks so much!❤😂
Looks great!
Green stalks rock! They are the best! I grow everything in my Greenstalks!❤
I too have strawberries in my Greenstalk (started last year) and was looking at them just yesterday, wondering about how to progress this year. Thanks so much Kevin, you answered questions I’ve not even thought of yet!
put the greenstalk in a kiddie pool with water and dish soap that should not allow any new snails to climb up to the strawberrys
I’m an old fart that being said I’m frustrated with my green stalk. The directions say to water to the fill line, I can NEVER water to the fill line because the middle spout is below the fill line and water pours through it when I try to water to the fill line. Could be because I’m an old fart I’m missing something 🥺🪻🌷💚🙃
CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE LINK TO GREENSTALK THAT YOU MENTIONED…….
Thank you Brian. I love the idea of using small cups and clipping them to the green stalk to root strawberry runners ! 🪻🌷💚🙃
I got a greenstalk for Christmas! It's planted up with strawberries now. They already are flowering! So excited to have strawberries this year! Love the idea of clipping cups to plant runners. Thanks, Brian!
Excellent detailed video! I grow strawberries in raised beds and Green Stalks. Do you need to replace the original plants after about 4 years or can you just rely on the runners? The Neptune products are too expensive for me to justify, what cheaper alternatives are there? I don't have to go organic.
This is what I was doing today in the Highlands of Scotland! Mainly in pots, but I also planted up a fabric strawberry planter with 11 strawberry plants.
I grow a variety of lettuces, a variety of herbs, jalapeno peppers, sweet banana peppers and Anaheim peppers in my GS. ❤ ~ Rhonda
Got 3 of them n it’s the third year. Thanks.
This will be my first year with a green stalk. I am planning salad greens and micro tomatoes and maybe a couple jalapeno plants. And lots of flowers. Stawberries don't overwinter well in containers here due to the cold and wet but I might try it and put the greenstalk in my greenhouse for the winter.
I bought a greenstalk a couple years ago. I found that the water poured into the middle (as recommended) didn't water the pockets very well. It all just drained out the bottom. So I bordered my main brick-lined path with strawberries and asparagus.
Yes I am going to clean mine up this week!
Six GS. 4 with different varieties of strawberries n going to use 1 for herbs by kitchen n try 2 grow mini or compact veg in last. Wish me well!
My strawberries didn't make it through the winter 😥😥
Thanks for the great info…..for years I use to think that Sawbugs where the one eating my strawberry’s …….but its the “Slugs”……thanks for the tip!!!
I have two GS , one original and one leaf..the shallower size. I found that strawberries are definitely the best use of them, didn't have much success with other crops. I also had problems with snails and slugs and used Sluggo Plus, putting inside the trays as well as underneath the base.
Hmmm… I am migrating one of my GreenStalks into more strawberries 🍓. Also starting a new strawberry patch to boot! Woohoo!!
This was perfect timing for me. I cleaned out some of the strawberry dead parts on Sunday and was wondering what else I needed to do so when the rain stops, I will be out making sure there’s enough soil if not adding and fertilizing. Thank you so much.
This is the 2nd year growing in a GS…3 of them. Last year I grew a variety of dwarf tomatoes, bush cukes, beans, along with an assortment of lettuce, basils, other herbs, and pollinator friendly flowers. Someone on a GS site suggested using a paint stirrer attachment for a power drill to use to churn up last season's soil in the pockets without having to take the whole GS apart. That has been a back saver for me. I appreciate your recommendation of more thoroughly upgrading the soil at 3 years. Thank you, Brian!
Your chickens would've loved those snails.
As an aside, last year I made a wooden strawberry planter for my neighbour and used Danish Oil as a finish for weather protection.
Despite being a slug and snail year there were no trails on the supports, and no slugs or snails in the planters.
GREAT INFO – THANK YOU!
Got a question. You have the original with 10"-deep planters. Will most crops do well in the new 7"-deep Leaf planters?
I am up to 6 GreenStalks 4 levels high. Three had strawberries and there were pockets where some had died. I had a Kiddy pool with strawberries in also. Pretty sure the birds dined well. Just got done transplanting them into the empty pockets and now am up to four GreenStalks with strawberries. Hoping to actually get more berries this year. It will be the third year for many. 😊 Perfect timing for this video because I was wondering what in the world to fertilize with. Thanks!
This was EXACTLY what I needed! Just ready to tear into the strawberry patch! Thank you!
Thank you Brian. I definitely need to do this also. God bless you and your family.❤️✝️🙏
I. Growing Strawberries in a raised bed. Should I refresh the soil as well?
Dollarge wral has small ones for 1.25. I may get me four and plant chives, catnip and cat grass in them. I can keep it in the house and let the cats graze. They also have bigger ones that i may get.
I love my Greenstalk, and I refresh much the way you do.
I have a raised bed of strawberries and the soil has lowered over the past two years , do you recommend replanting and replenish soil ? Thank you
