My son is finally wanting to do chores to earn money on the farm 😍. What are chores your give to a 7/8 year old.

Hand him a machette and send him into the brush!

    I kid, I kid.

haha we used to get $50 for a big jar of what we call (3 corner jacks)-(goat heads) in Australia just a really nasty prickle that is hard to control but there’s nothing wrong with feeding chickens unless you have an ass of a rooster

Feed chickens, collect eggs, feed other animals, dry dishes, set the table, make bed, etc.

Feeding, watering, gathering eggs. Is he doing any inside chores? He’s old enough to unload the dishwasher and bring dirty laundry to the laundry room.

Chopping the corn stalks that pop up in the bean field on rotation, my nephew loves doing it, lord knows why.

  6. Mine were feeding by the time they were ~4/5 and 6/7+ respectively. Dogs, cats, goats and chickens.

Imho though, you should NOT tie chores to $$. That will lead to them just choosing not to do them, because they don’t really want the $$. Chores should just be a part of life. Something we all do, because we’re part of the family. Not something you can choose to do, or not, for $$$.

Nice chickens and coop by the way. I teach my kids too about farming. Once They helped me drown a mink that killed 15 of my chickens.

Chores are done for free for the good of the family

    Jobs pay.
