I’ve been watering this by soaking once per month as the nursery suggested, and letting it dry upside down. Any ideas why it’s turning brown in the center? Lighting? I would appreciate any help. Incidentally I have another one that is doing great following the same watering format.

I think it’s rotting. I know you said your other one is doing great with the same routine, but I still think this is getting too much moisture (and staying too moist).

Does it dry out within 4 hours? It may be staying wet too long. I use a small desk fan to help mine dry out.

  3. It looks like a xerographica. It’s better to under water and never soak them. They are a desert species. I’ve seen them in the wild and have several that are thriving. So if you down vote, you are not helping this person out. NEVER let water sit in the crown.
