I recently came into the posession of a big monstera. It has 4 unhappy leaves at the bottom, a lot of places along the way leaves have been cut off and a very heslthy top with aerial roots.
In an ideal world i want to keep its top half and regrow a "new" plant from the bottom half after chopping it down.
Problems.
1 is my first time with a monstrera or any plant this big.
2 can i propagate the huge top part strsiggt into soil? It needs support ( i cab hang a rope from tge cealing to provide supportif i can't plant a big pole yet). I cannot prop it in water, please do not duggest it it's out of the question.
Place where i'd cut is is where i the picture with me pointung.
- It has been kept in the cold for several days, hence its unhappy state at the bottom. It has seen freezing temps. How do i care for it knowing frost might have affected the roots? ( cutting the healthy top and proping it is my furst priority)
4 previous owner tied it to the pole with metel wire. And the wire has cut into the healthy parts ( tgat beautifull top). I want to remove it, but i'm windering if i should leave the ingrown parts in. I fear risking it wilting.

It sounds like you’re on the right plan of approach!
Are you sure it’s your first time with this type of plant? your intuition is quite good.
Chop where you pointed and guide the aerial roots into the soil along with some support.
You can definitely sustain the top growth since you have such robust aerial root which will convert to subterranean roots pretty quickly.
Feel free to remove the metal wires if you don’t like them, the exposed/damaged stem will callous and be fine long term as long as you’re not keeping those areas moist.
