For context I am in regional Australia, currently summer with high 30°c days. Been quite dry recently so watering for about 30 minutes most days. Also black soil.
It's a bit of a mungrel lawn but I believe some of the affected areas are buffalo.

I don’t have an answer to your questions, but just wanted to say I’m going to start calling my grass “grass leaves” too.
