In todays episode, the weather has been turbulent, to say the least. However the jobs have continued. We’ve also had some pest issues in the @polytunnels , however I’ve come up with some plans to foil them!

The spring sowings continue and the progress on the allotment plot, in sunny south Wales (At the moment) continues.

I also feature my new Greenstalk planter. I aim to grow 49 crops within a square foot of space, by.. well GROWING UP!!

I also sowed 5 varieties of leeks, a new one on me was suggested by Clare at @TheFarmyardGarden
Northern lights leeks. They are beautiful!!! Go check out Clares wonderful channel.

Progress has also been made in the fruitcage, i show you how to plant up a first tunnels fruitcage, with jostaberries, golden raspberries, blackcurrants, white currants and red currants. Also 2 gooseberry bushes. The fruitcage is officially FULL!! Horray!

I also visit a local garden centre to purchase more seed potatoes, i was hoping to get some more charlotte, but i purchased some nicola instead.

I also had a spring clean in the polytunnel.

  1. Well I’m looking forward to seeing footage of Mr Ratty abseiling up to the hanging shelf! Also wondering how the Charlottes will cope with the extra feed – you might be creating monsters! Well done young sir!

  2. Thank god the Green Stalk is now available in the UK. I ordered mine from Growtowers in Sweden, and they shipped it over to the UK for little money.
Omg the rain, April showers came early to Wales 😮❤
The leeks look absolutely stunning 😍

  3. I would like to see an experimental, the same variety potatoes in backets and in soil. Maybe 1 or 2 in soil, to see the difference to size etc

  4. Getting closer to building our fruit cage ❤ think I will Woodchip round everything too like you!

Mouse is so cute…. Rat not so much 😂 least they left your spuds alone!!

  5. Hi Danny, oh no, poor you with all the rain, hailstone and naughty rats too! The size of the rat!!! Well fed on your plants that is! I'm off to my plot today for a few hourson my day off, love it, repotting my onions is the job today 😊 and checking my seedlings too. Your plot is looking very productive, you have been very busy too. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊

  6. Oh, great weather for gardening! 😅 Hope you manage to keep your crops safe from the rat. I've been admiring those greenstalks for a while, I might have to invest in one at some point.
You have so much to do, but it's just not talk. Lovely to see how its moving along. ☺

  7. Where's your mac Danny? It is Wales isn't it? You do work so hard. I don't know how you allocate your time between work/allotment. I won't tell you my policy re rats. Sorry😊

  8. Ahhhh the field mouse 🐁 such a cutie! Not that I'd be saying that if I saw him in person!!! Hee hee! Loving the greenstalk I'm actually tempted……we will see! 😊❤

  9. There's a lady on a YouTube channel called Kim's Kozy Corner and she has so many greenstalks and grows an amazing amount of veg and herbs in them.

  10. Mice and rats dont like strong smelling herbs like mint, so you can use peppermint teabags to protect your seedsl.

  11. We have at least one rat, he's managed to dig down into our animal food shed and we think is living in there. For the moment that is ok as most of the food is in curver type boxes.
It does mean they don't tend to eat any of our young plants….I did however find our cats lounging on my newly sprouted carrot seedlings!!!! Our biggest problem is moles which I think we will have to deal with if they try to dig under our raised beds, I'm temped to put chicken wire on the bottom of them before we fill them with soil though to hopefully deter any digging.
That spinning plater is excellent, can't wait to see how it looks once the lettuce is grown!

  12. Hi, I have a greenstalk and I am looking for ideas about what I can plant in it. What will you be putting in yours and when? I have planted a couple of the tiers and hae them in the greenhouse+ for now.
