I bought 8 cubic yards of this mix from a landscape supplier for work in my backyard, and it looks like I will have a ton of this left over once my main project is done. I’ve been wanting to level my lawn for a while now, and was wondering if i could utilize what I have leftover over to do this? Yes there is some bark here and there, I would rake that out when leveling. Also, I understand I should wait until my lawn greens up, correct? (Central Texas, assuming green up will start in the next few weeks)

Thank you all in advance!

Not the best for leveling. As you said there’s some debris in it. This would be good to fill in any major gaps then come back with a play sand plus top soil blend for best leveling.

I’ll pressure wash that driveway for you once the dirt is gone 👍

Might want to build a soil screener to get the wood out. Otherwise it might look like you put mulch down in your yard after the soil gets washed to the bottom and woody pieces stay on top. I would see about a 3/8, 1/4, or 1/8 inch screen. The smaller the screen holes, the more screening work, but easier the application.

Get one of those leveling rakes. I very highly recommend. I did 17 yards of dirt last spring & fall. I do not think it would’ve been possible without a leveling rake. I bought mine off amazon for like $50. It’s all metal, worked great.

Sure can! It’s going to work great for leveling and make your lawn healthier over all! Enjoy!

May I recommend listening to a fun podcast while you spread all that and then 2 cold beers in a lawn chair when you’re done?

Why ask this question if you already bought the blend????

Depending on how bad it is. You might need some fill then put that on top.
