Today is March 7th not the 10th lol
Thank you for growing extra to donate. I run a family homeless shelter in Ohio. Several people in the community bring us their extra fruits and veggies throughout the summer and fall. It is such a huge blessing and we make sure they all get used either at the shelter or given to former shelter residents who now have their own home. It is a blessing to many.
Another awesome one!!!!! It's been years since I started seeds. Suffer from depression. These videos will really help to make good, beneficial decisions to avoid the problems that can go along with gardening. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I want to grow tomatoes, okra, winter and summer squashes, eggplants for curry ( Indian food to me is to die for imho) as well as herbs, dry beans, lentils, green beans and a whole host of other plants. Im tired of grocery store prices and want higher quality, better tasting and fresh prodce that I know when it was picked.
Opalka is one of the best paste tomatoes.
Zone 5-6 March 15 I start
March tenth? Lol
I am in Southern California where my indeterminate tomatoes are in the ground year round. I cover them for a couple of weeks when we get frost.
I bought 28 bags of Promix at a Walmart last September. Price 19.98
Clearance price 2.00. What 😊
Start seeds according to you last frost date. Great video
When I plant my seedless watermelon seeds I cover them in plastic and put them on the heat mat. It helps them germinate since they are difficult to start as soon as they germinate I remove the plastic
This is my first year really trying to garden so I am just starting with the basics. Beefsteak, roma, and cherry. Next year i want to grow Dr. Wyches, tiny tim, brads atomic grape, and amish paste or san marzanos.❤
Why is it bad to have large seedlings? I've been growing for a couple of decades in the Mid-Atlantic and usually have my tomato plants 1-2 feet in height (with some blooming) before planting deep once the ground temp is suitable. I do have room and a greenhouse so perhaps I'm an outlier but wondering if the plants are more stressed by transplanting at a larger size. All organic and production has been excellent and consistent over the years.
I have never been able to time these right. When I start later, I have a better success rate, but I don't see a harvest until August. I have tried several years in a row to start earlier, but the seedlings get too leggy waiting to be planted out. The first batch almost always dies, and I end up having to start a later batch anyway. Even though I live in zone 7, the late spring still gets cold days, and these have wiped out my nightshades whenever I plant them early.
Today is March 10th = delusion
looks like you hate red tomatoes
If you are in the maritime Pac NW, you shouldn't put your tomatoes or summer squash out until after Mothers day. The soil needs to be 50° and we don't get that here until mid May at the earliest. Peppers and winter squash go out after fathers day.
So count backwards, consider you ability to pot up, provide light, and the space.
Northeast PA here. Pepper seeds planted in February and tomatoes in march. Last week of may or first of June the plants are a perfect size to go into the ground. I use three trays with 16 squares each. Two seeds per square. Takes up almost no room at all and yet i get a lot of plants.
If you have a hoophouse, then it's time. I live in Indiana ( South of Michigan)with no hoophouse and you're an April Fool if you start tomatoes before April 1.
Mom used to say we don't give food away because we grow too much, we grow too much so we can give food away
Still too early for me!
How many seed per cell for tomatoes Luke?
Shoot….march 10 is my daughter’s birthday! I am such a bad mom!
