Question about gate assembly & security

So, I am putting together a parts list for a farm gate install, and am planning to use 4″ tube & floor flanges w/ concrete footings.

I plan to have two posts, with two of these hinges on each post, and an 8 foot farm gate on each post.

These would be chained together in the middle to create a 16ft dual swing setup.

However.. lwith a pin like this… hypothetically, the gates could just be lifted up off the pins, right?

I thought about having the lower pin upright, as show in the photo, and then have the upper pin flipped vertically. However, the upper pin would no longer be supporting the weight of the gate, which sounds like a problem, and this seems overly complex. That also does not address the fasteners being removed.

Im really hoping I can avoid having to purchase a welder and run it off my generator to finalize this project if possible.

Anyone have suggestions for a setup or different style of hinge pin I could use that would be more secure? Thanks!

**Edit:** Ran this past of friend of mine, he said to use 2 hinge pins for each hinge – one below and one above, and then use carriage bolts and weld the nuts on. Probably going to grab a budget mig from harbor freight and go that route, maybe cut the pins a little shorter so they both fit if necessary.

“A determined career criminal can get into anything. Locks only slow down honest folk who made a bad decision long enough for them to make a different decision.” – my uncle (probably quoting someone else)

Anyone determined enough to lift 16 ft of locked gates off the hinges… well let’s just say that they’re stupid for not just breaking the lock.

1 up, 1 down will deter 95%. the other 5% will get in no matter what u do.
