This was wonderful. It's always so inspiring to listen to someone who knows their own work so deeply.
So gooood!
She is wicked smart and talented. Her photographic perspective is incredibly unique and the way she talks is almost poetic.
What a great explanation of her practice and process, this was so nice to watch
Great interview. Great photography.
As a big fan of Mitch Epstein and Toshio Shibata, I'm very pleased I found this.
$50 a photo? I’d rather stitch together X2D shots
I love that she said she gets to know the print better while editing it. I feel the same way, (crop sensor though), but because when I take a picture I don't see all the details. It's not until editing that I see a lot more things.
Another thing I like is how she contemplates how the land is divided up and the reasons for it. I've kind of thought about that, but more the way I think of it is I wish cities and towns were more picturesque, like they are in Europe. A lot of places are awkward, probably because they're built over time or don't accommodate landscape well.

Excellent Willem, thank you for this introduction. What wonderful photography Paloma. Cheers!
Beautiful photos and a beautifully eloquent explanation of her artistic philosophy. A+++
Beautiful images, and so good to see clarity in Paloma's articulation of the photography.
it's really nice that you leave the stage for other photographers too 🙂
It was really interesting and my first video about big format. Also interesting what people assume about each other just based on how their home is built up. While Paloma for example thinks they have their own little square they care about and don't care about the rest, I see that maybe that's all the land they own and that's where it ends and they created their environment as much as they could effect it. etcetera.
Brave woman. All my life I dreamed of having an 8*10 camera, then digital appeared. For me it would be more practical a medium format digital camera, I don’t have the patience nor the energy for carrying such a beautiful monster.

I really like the careful, well thought out composition here. It's interesting to see another photographer's work shot in the same general location as I shoot in LA and in 8×10 as well, but seen with a very different point of view. This is a really nice profile on a good photographer.
Such a great video
Wow, great video. Thanks!
So good! Thank you.
Paloma is so chill and smart, and has vision. Thanks for making this introduction.
I like how she refers to 8×10 as generous. And the tip of the iceberg comment, how there's an intimacy with the image that develops long after standing there at the scene. Bravo.
Hope she made it thru the fires. Love her vibe
Wow this has made realise that a lot of the reasons behind why Paloma shoots is also why I like to shoot as well. I love artists that open your mind this is amazing. Thanks Willem
