Small Space Garden Before & After | GreenStalk Planter, Vego Beds, & Container Garden

Watch our small space garden makeover from start to finish! We didn’t know what to do with this small space on our side yard, but knew we wanted a garden that would give us an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. Watch how we maximize a small backyard or side yard for a big harvest!

►Container gardening completes our garden. For container gardening we have some pretty buckets for our apple trees in containers, half barrels (purchased from ALDI) is our berries like blueberries, pink lemonade blueberries, and blackberries. We also have some food safe buckets from tractor supply (you can also find them at home depot or lowes) growing tomato plants. Not in this video, but we’ll show soon, our container peach tree and container nectarine tree.

Growing your own food is one of the best ways to ensure fresh, healthy, and organic produce while also reducing grocery costs and increasing self-sufficiency. You don’t need an acre, a half acre, or even a quarter acre, we have much less than all of that.

A big and even small home garden allows you to control what goes into your food, and in turn, what goes onto your table and into your belly! Plus, they amazing satisfaction of harvesting straight from your backyard is PRICLESS!

This year, we’re expanding our small space garden by adding potatoes in fabric pots for easy harvesting and space efficiency, I think we’ll add that right onto the weed barrier. We’re also incorporating onions into either the GreenStalk vertical planter or the Vego raised beds, making the most of every available inch.

We also plan to start another strawberry tower, yes, we have one whole greenstalk full of strawberries and it overwinters beautifully in the original greenstalk so we are adding one more! Berries are so expensive and we’d love some for eating and preserving. We’ve had to visit our local pick your own farm last year to add to our freezer supply.

Growing a variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs in raised beds, vertical planters, and containers helps us maximize production in a small area while keeping everything organized and accessible. Whether you’re working with a tiny backyard, patio, or side yard, small space gardening proves that you don’t need a large plot to grow an abundant harvest.
