  1. Thanks Luke! I take my house plant soil and dump it into my compost bin. Any thoughts on this process. Also any thoughts on using rich soil from the community garden for house plants? I am all about the cycle of organic life. I know that house plants are a little different but the concept is similar. I would love to not purchase soil as a way of not consuming "products" and plastics.

  2. Thank you for clearing this topic up. There are so many different options on this topic.
Now I know with confidence that it's ok.
    Thank you again

  3. Yeah this is good to hear. Potting mix has been one of my biggest expenses every year. Started to make my own to cut down on that but glad to finally get validation that it’s ok to reuse (which I’ve been doing already). Thank you!

  4. Your videos really are helpful! Thank you for taking the time to make them even while running your business. You are needed in this community.

  5. What about pill bugs, I use grow bags & they get infested every yr. I've tried DE, but the bags stay too moist.

  6. Thanks Luke! I just dump the used soil into the "entry" section of my compost pile and get my "fresh" soil from the "exit" (composted) section. Thanks for helping and sharing so freely!💕

  7. Thanks. I ended up dumping the soil from my grow bags last fall into a corner of the yard. (Storage constraints for the winter). It’s still under snow but my intention is to just dig it up, amend as you suggest and re-use 😀

  8. I dump my soil around my trees that the roots are starting to show and/or I want to plant some Pasta at the base.

  9. LOL, glad to know I've been doing it right for past decades. My neighbor just asked me this a few days ago. Sure! But now I will send her a link to your video to give her confidence its ok.

  10. Thanks Luke! I usually dump out about half the old and work in new soil, egg shells, and other amenities.

  11. I do this every year! Especially the last few yeats when potting soils haven't been so goid. Many are mainly wood chips and chunks with some dirt.

  12. Was a little alarmed by the fabric pot being reused without giving it a good soak to dissolve all the accumulated salts that inevitability build up, especially with fabric.

  13. Thanks for the good info. I plan to reuse my containers and raised bed from last year. I have two new raised beds to fill with old soil from previous grow bags. I noticed the green mold on your grow bag. It looks like that is okay to leave on it. I was going to throw mine away.

  14. Yes, ur very helpful, I am subcribed, bought @ $28 worth of seeds from ur company. I also checked @ for promix in my area and will add this to my previous soil. I have noticed that James Prigioni has ur seeds for sell on his web site. I watch both u n him.
    Thank u very much!!

  15. Very true! My mom had a pot she grew tomatoes in forever. She would mix new in Healy. Great video 😄
