I'm wondering if perhaps this pot is too big for the ZZ Plant? The bulbs underneath the soil are quite large but I'm worried there's too much empty space for the plant to thrive.

Any advice is most appreciated!

I’d say so, you could probably comfortably go down about 2 inches in size!

Only if you over water it.

Water the plant not the pot, and you’ll be fine.

I personally find these guys like to be in smaller pots. If it were mine I’d put it in something smaller.

It’s probably fine, it’s a little oversized but not terribly so. Here’s the thing: put this is a sunny spot. I know they say these can survive low light but this will be so beautiful in a lot of light and will be much likelier to flourish. And it will help with the pot being a little big if you get more light to soak up the water. Only water when the soil is totally dry.

Well, I will depends on the rhizomes. And these are my zz and their tiny pots, which I watered once a month because they are in tiny pots which dry up very fast… 😅

If the pot is small, they will get thirsty faster which you can water them more frequently, but if their pot is too big which the soil stay wet for too long, you are risk rotting them even if you water them once every few months.

Your ZZ Plant is beautiful! It looks like it is thriving.

I wouldn’t try to fix something that doesn’t look broken, especially if it’s been in there awhile.

If it starts looking unhappy, then maybe but I wouldn’t repot it until the spring.
