i found this broken off piece in a nursery. the guy that worked there said i could have it for free. he said not to propagate it in water and to use a rooting hormone which i got. just asking for advice on a soil mixture and how exactly to go about this.

    This is an agleonema, not a philodendron.

    If there are little nodes / small bud looking things on the bottom of that stem, you can place the cutting in water and it’ll grow new roots

  2. i would personally put in something like mollys houseplant soil or a diy mix similar if you want to go the soil route, i usually do all my props in water first

    I’m propping an aglaonema in water right now. Just be patient and remember to switch out water once a week.
