I spent all day today repotting all of my self watering pots, except one plant that loves and can’t get enough water. I find I’d rather water my plants based on the feel of the soil than to let the pot do it and risk overdoing it.

I still use all mine but I use them as creche pots lol.

  3. I definitely wouldn’t have a Thai in one that’s for sure, way too big of a risk for root rot in my opinion.

I love these for all the drainage space, but I have all the cotton threads ripped out. It’s very easy to overwater with these.

I’ve used self-watering pots since I started collecting plants about seven months ago. Not all my plants are in them, but the ones that are have all done fine. It makes watering quick and easy. My only advice is to not put very much water in the reservoir and only fill it when the water is gone AND the wick is fairly dry. I just put repotted this Green Congo philodendron in a self-watering pot today. I used a wick holder that I make and wicking rope from Amazon. The White Wizard in the background came in that pot, which I converted to a self-watering pot. It’s thriving.
