Hi!

I just bought this philo (literally like 4 hours ago), it was outside for maybe a total of 5 minutes max (it is the middle of winter and freezing cold) but otherwise has been sitting in my home, not in a cold spot, with bright indirect light, I haven’t myself watered it, but 2 of the leaves have gone flimsy and turning slightly brown/yellow and is see through. What is going on? Is this normal ?

While this might not be the problem, plants get cold much faster than you’d expect. Especially when they’re meant to live in tropical climate. Probably just got too cold. :/

It’s not a philodendron, it appears to have been exposed to cold, you’ll have to wait to see how bad it gets.

  3. Monstera Thai Constellation! It’s def got cold damage, even 5 minutes in freezing weather will do it. It’ll probably bounce back just make sure to not ever leave it outside in the cold again lol.

You need a bigger pot, preferably not ceramic

Man… during Covid Thai constellations were worth 100s. Now they’re mistakable for other aroids.

  6. this plant does not like being confined to the small pot and will literally kill itself as a self defence mechanism if feeling threatened, common rookie mistake!

  7. It’s a Thai Constellation Monstera.
They are prone to root rot and that pot looks like a self watering pot. And there is no air flow in that kind of pot as well.

I don’t need to tell you what everyone else has said. But I noticed you said it is from Home Depot. PLEASE repot it. While you’re taking the peat moss off of it, you’re likely going to encounter the death net. This is like a 2-4 inch net they use for plug propagations. It will damage the roots over time. Remove it immediately.

If you’re new to plants, and no offense, but I can tell you are just based on you adorably thinking this was a philodendron, PLEASE go on YouTube and search Monstera Thai constellation care, Thai constellation soil needs, etc. The beautiful thing about YouTube is how huge the plant community is and how helpful everyone is 😊
