We have a transformer in our backyard, are there any creative ways to make the best of it?

I would check that it’s not actually a robot in disguise.

I built a movable wooden fence around mine, and planted bushes in front of it

Not a lot legally. There is an easement on your property giving them access. You can make it look pretty and it will be destroyed the first time they have to get to it.

You basically have no backyard, they have rights to most of everything there…

Let your kids lay on them. That’s what i used to do. Very warm, especially on a chilly night lol

Add a turret to the top and disguise it as a tank.

We planted evergreen bushes around ours. It’s been here over 20 years and the electric company hasn’t needed to get into it yet. The bushes are 5’ tall now. We only planted them on two sides. The other sides aren’t really visible. I think there’s enough access if they need it. If not, we’ll just dig them out, plant more and hope it works for another 20 years (if we’re still around 😅)!

I would paint all the white stickers black so no white is visible

The way they painted it green, it practically blends right in.

I also have one in my backyard. Luckily it’s small and in a corner so I’m integrating it into the flower bed I’m putting in along the back fence. It’s simply going to be surrounded by mulch, nothing complicated just in case.

Raised planter bed right over it? Just be aware that if the power company needs to get into the transformer, they can just rip it apart.

But I have rarely, if ever, seen a power company go into a power transformer like this.

  13. I have the stand-up version… I’m thinking I’ll paint it the with the “Disney green” that makes things blend in

They make these big plastic inserts that look like landscaping rocks to cover them

You are legally obliged to paint it like Bumblebee..

Question if its on your property do they have to pay you for having it there?

Make sure whatever you put in front the lid can be moved because the utility company will bust out the Sawzall as soon as they want in that

You can get a custom fake rock to go over it, you can then paint it anyway you want or leave it as a rock.

Put a sign on it that says “Nuclear fallout shelter” just to mess with people

  20. You can plant shrubs around it but the local utility needs to be able to access the side that’s hinged in case it requires maintenance. I think the clearance is typical 10 ft on the hinged side and there’s no minimum on the other three sides.

Paint it to look like a transformer (toy)
