I don’t think these are carrots. Any ideas?

They look like carrots that were pulled way too early. How long ago were they planted? Most of the time if you want really Big carrots you have to give them at least 9-10 months. I’ve seen people even talking about letting them go a whole year before picking. The seed packets that say they grow in just a few months are lying. They need at least a full season or 2 of grow time.

Pro tip: don’t fuck with anything in the family Apiaceae that you’re not 100% sure what it is. There’s some gnarly toxic plants in that family and they hybridize readily, often creating toxic hybrids.

  3. Did you plant carrots? If you didn’t plant carrots and something like a carrot seems to be coming up, don’t eat them. There are several wild relatives that are horrifically poisonous. Including poison hemlock which can look like this when young.

If you did plant carrots, thin them out so that there’s enough space between the carrots for the root to grow (generally 1.5 cm/1/2 inch between them or more). Check your soil chemistry, you might need to add some phosphorous or potassium. Too much nitrogen and you get all tops, no bottoms.

Sorry but I do not understand how people are confidentiality providing identifications without close ups of the leaves, stems and with no location provided. I feel to there are not enough details to provide an accurate ident.

There’s a super posionous weed that looks like wild carrotts so just be very careful and don’t ever eat anything unless you have a 100% fool proof identification .
