  1. I realized that my garden bed h as staggered blooming. I didn't plan it that way i was just lucky! I so enjoy when one plant is done there is another waking up. I will now always keep that in mind.

  2. I'm wondering do you don't like them, they are not a thing in your area, never saw them in your parents garden center or garden center you visited, I know they exist in US and you could grow them in your zone, here in Europe they are most often plant you'll se for screening and live fences. Cherry laurel, excellent for trimming and keeping in check with pruning, if not trimmed, they can grow 8 feet tall and 6 feet wide and, they are evergreen, deep green, thick glossy leaves, look great all year long, there's also lot of cultivars grown as smaller ornamental trees, green all year long.

  3. With bbind weed, we've found if you get a tub with a lid cut a corner off the lid or a hole on an edge. Then get a ziplock bag fill it qith some weedkiller, gather a bunch of bind weed vines that are close together put the ends in the the bag of weedkill and put that into the tub and put the lid on. And rain water or water from when you are watering your plants that collects in the tub you need to empty away from you beds before it overflows. But we do this in a few places around our garden and it keeps the bind weed back. We are hoping it is getting down into the roots as well but we haven't got rid of it all yet. Our neighbours have mentioned it isn't coming up in their garden as bad now, lucky them LoL

  4. Great video and very informative. Twenty five years in to our home and garden, everything grows more than the plant tag! We way over planted evergreens and now we are spending money removing things that got huge. Wish I had seen this video when we started. It costs more to remove things then buy them, so move slowly 😂

  5. I enjoy all your videos and have learned so much, but this one is by far my favorite. I’ve made some of the mistakes and need to fix it. Good thing I still can. 😊

  6. You and your mom sit on same side of the table why can't you and your husband?
The back and forth between you too makes me dizzy…..

  7. What great points you are making from beginning to end. Sure is fun watching your property growing. I love the idea of must have colors. My garden space is 2 acres, slowly growing. Watching you and Aaron sure is inspiring. You are such great food for the soul.
Thank you for all you share with us.
    ❤️💚💙💛 🪻🌹🌻🏵️

  8. You always mention colors, but never much mention one should always remember to add placed
bird houses, bat houses, away from main barns & houses.
Keep in mind what birds , bees, share your spaces. Plan accordingly.
I love just sitting in the garden watching nature. ESPECIALLY IN THE MORNINGS 🥰
I share ALL MY SPACES with nature, deer, birds, bees, some critters I don't wish but learn to deal / live with. ( rabbits ) We're all here to get along peacefully.
KEEP A BINDER OF PLACED WATER & SEPTIC, ELECTRIC AREAS / NON DRIVEABLE AREAS.

  9. Thanks for this video Laura and Aaron! As someone who loves to garden and also someone that is 68 (yikes), thank you for recognizing how one’s strength etc. changes. I’m in Zone 7b on Long Island. Services are very expensive and everyone claims to be an expert but they aren’t really. It’s frustrating not being able to do things myself. In the early years did you have trouble securing trustworthy relationships with experts? For example: excavating for flower and vegetable beds, irrigation companies and masons to name only a few.

  10. I love using ideas in my own garden from online inspiration, especially yours! My whole design is based off the 4 color rule and drifts!! Question-Do you have a diagram of your infrastructure to ensure you dont hit lines? I'd be second guessing my pipe placement when installing those huge trees with the auger!

  11. Such an important and informative video! Thank You Aaron and Laura. So true, when you're younger, you do not realize how much you need to have things easier in the future, and yes, all of a sudden, you're at that point. and yes, if it's too hard, you won't do it and everything you worked so hard for will quickly fall apart.

  12. Thank you for this much needed video. Truly eye opening. What is your (welcomed) opinion of painted/stained black fences? I know you have arborvitae and white rail fence but say you had the bland six foot fence, what would you do while waiting for your arborvitae to grow? I'm asking since I want semi formal but i don't feel i have much style. I want to avoid expensive mistakes and almost all of the pictures I researched show established gardens so the fences don't show or are beautiful brick fences. Your opinions are greatly appreciated and welcomed.

  13. How do you maintain (weed & mulch) your arb / fence line between your property and your neighbors property. Is the fence on your property line?
Do you do it all from your side, or work from your neighbors side as well?

  14. THAN WHY DON'T YOU JUST CONTAINER GARDEN, SO MUCH EASIER, INSTEAD OF PUTTING THINGS IN THE GROUND. I LOVE IT. I GROW EVERYTHING IN CONTAINERS .

  15. Really great video as usual, always something to learn. The first real ah ha moment I had when I first discovered your channel was this: If you don’t like it or it doesn’t serve your space just take it out. For years I continued with plants I didn’t really like just because they were healthy. Now if something just doesn’t do it for me, out it goes! Because Laura said so!
