Hi everyone, this is Albert, the moody monstera.
I admit I have overwatered him since I got him, until I finally learned how often that should be done. He had a two weeks break as I waited for the soil to get completely dry before watering again.
When I depotted him to check, I also noticed some of the roots seemed rotten (or at least flaccid and mushy).
I took the pot to the sink, watered thoroughly, and waited for it to drain before putting it back in the planter (not sure if it's the right word: the bigger decorative pot it sits in).
The next day, Albert had several yellow leaves as you can see in the picture. This has happened every time I watered him, but I thought it would be different this time as I had waited for the soil to dry.
What should I do? I'm afraid he'll lose leaves every time I water him. Should I clean the mushy roots away and repot?

I’d say a repot won’t hurt, cut off the mushy roots with some clean scissors and give it some nice clean soil. But be sure to check for pests as that could also be the reason the plant isn’t doing so well!
Make sure it’s a well draining pot with a bottom. Try bottom watering so it can decide how much water it wants. Take off the totally dead yellow leaves
