Just moved into a new place and this is the status of the backyard. It’s mostly mud.. is it possible to still grow grass? How do I tame the mud? What are these plastic bags for?!
I’m new to lawn care and really looking for any suggestions on how to make this look better.

This spring, rake all that out and mow what’s left really low. Throw down grass seed and spray a pre emergent with it that you can use at time of seeding (like Tenacity). Water it every day to get it established. Then this fall seed and fertilize again.
