I just want to preface by saying I do not have a green thumb by any means and have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to plants. I truly don’t know how these guys have survived for years but here we are. The one is obviously bare in the area circled. What’s going on with that? Do I need to cut this plant? How do I fix this?

Can’t see a window or grow light in the picture, so by guess would be that the stem is bare because the leaves there have nothing to photosynthesize. The plant is putting all its energy into its new growth in the seach for light.
