  1. Any advice on fungus gnats. This is the third year dealing with them. So frustrating. I sprinkled cinnamon on top of new seedings . Hoping that deters them.

  2. The assurance that seeds "want to grow" applies to every seed…except parsnips. They are the most cantankerous and defiant nemesis to this gardener. Out of the last 7 yrs trying to just get them to even sprout and going through many, many packets, I've only had 1 successful harvest. If anyone has any tips to trick them into sprouting, please share.

  3. I love you Jess – but you have to know I lost coffee out my nose when you said in mid February you had planted ALL the tomatoes you would for the year.
    🍅❤️🤣

  4. Yes, it’s OK to slide back… Grow all the tomatoes! OMG Brad‘s favourite eight! Grow them all grow them all grow them all he he he he he he he so excited 😂

  5. Jess when I met you in NH my husband made me promise I wouldn't cry and fan girl 😂 I was pretty good. I was only awkward 🤷‍♀️

  6. This is the video I’ve been waiting on. When you said you were cutting down on your tomatoes this year and only growing a select amount. I said there is no way she will not grow more tomatoes than that. No way! 😂 You are a tomato fanatic and I just knew there would be more. And I don’t completely believe there won’t be more added. 😂 🍅 ❤

  7. My garden space is drastically smaller since our move to an HOA neighborhood, but this video encouraged me to quit moping and get to starting so I can have at least one tomato sandwich this year. 🌱💕🙏

  8. I did soil blocking for the first time using coco coir and worm castings….looked wonderful I was so proud of myself until after 2 weeks only 8 out of 68 new seeds germinated. Watering was a little difficult bottom watering is difficult and if you very carefully put a drop of water on top it tends to fall apart a little. so dug out my trusty seed trays and its working just fine.

  9. Hearing your Brad story every year is a right of passage into spring planting. It is like watching Christmas shows gearing up for Christmas. So exciting!

  10. My little girl is actually taking a longer nap than usual so I can listen to this in full for once! What a gift!!🥹💚🙌🌿🌳

  11. Well crap. Guess I'm buying more seeds! lol I need that small tomatoes mix to grow in Genna's 'pinkstalk' lol She doesn't like tomatoes but she generously offered some of her spots for me to try small varieties in. She wants her lettuces, strawberries and flowers. (Some peppers if I can find some that are easy to grow in small containers too. lol) Blessed Be Sowards Family! 💖

  12. Gah! I don't need more tomato seeds but I cannot resist having more Brad Gates in my garden. You, Jess, are being strong but I am willfully weak. 😂😂

  13. I loved this video. I laughed. For the last 3 years I suffered from a major broken heart, my wife left me…and even the Lord. Then I had Lyme Disease, which I wish on no one, ever. And last year I hurt my back and am restricted in what I can do. So cows are gone from the homestead. Gardening has been a joyless burden. But this year God gave me a new vision for a smaller, more Sam focused garden. And I'm excited again. I feel about peppers, hot and mild, the way you do tomatoes. It's hard to scale back. So I have loved watching you wobble 😊.

  14. I use plastic wrap over my seedlings until they pop up. It'll hold the moisture. Labels can be poked through the plastic. Once the seedlings are up and before the first leafs I lightly spray. Once second leafs are up it only bottom watering. It's worked for many years for me in zone 6_7.

  15. I checked out his site after your tomato video and picked up the eye candy seeds. Now I need to go check out the small spaces collection. I have a problem. Like you, I said I was cutting back. I also ordered habnadas and some other peppers you mentioned. There are definitely worse addictions.
