Squirrels seem to be digging up my yard in the past few years. I have added an animal deterrent (hi-frequency based on movement) as seen in the photo. Which worked in the Fall, but doesn’t anymore. I’ve also tried cayenne pepper sprinkled, but that’s short-lived as well.

Help!

I ordered 3 owls (two are solar with motion detection and head turns) put them on pvc pipe w/ spikes in the spring and fall. Move them around every few days and it’s reduced the squirrel “divots” by 90%. Not perfect but way better than everything else I tried in the past few years.

I hear ya. I did a lawn renovation last fall. Spent a lot of money on product, small amount of leveling, new irrigation setup, other equipment, etc. Tons of time involved.

The squirrels just went to town in the brand new areas. Seeing how nice and perfect the germination went, the daily new destruction I saw was so angering. By the end, the anger just turned into a feeling of being defeated. I’ll have to go some other route next time involving coverage.

Could look into trapping and moving them if allowed in your area.

  4. They are digging up grubs. Call a lawn service to kill the grubs

Relocation is most likely illegal and they will return home if it’s inside a couple miles. Either live with them or put them down.

A .22 cal air rifle will make short work of them.

Pellet gun or a .22. My grandpa use to use a live trap and then throw them in water.. that seemed a little messed up but that was back in the day
