For those of you who like when I go into detail, this is all about using store bought disease control. Right now, in Florida, Gulf Coast and Texas, if you have St Augustine or Zoysia, it’s important to apply preventative fungicides using what I have coined the “Bullet Proof Strategy” that uses two modes of action, Group 3 and Group 11.

Fungicides used in this video:
Bio-Advanced (Propiconazole)

Scotts DiseaseEx (Azoxysrobin)

In the video, Armada fungicide has “Bayer” on the label – however, it has a new look and a new distrubuter, ENVU. Here is the updated product. New Look but still the same active ingredients:

  1. I am liking this, a new upload every Sunday! I have been using this "bullet proof" strategy here in Chicago for the last couple of years and it works! Not trying to cause any issues with asking this but do you still have your 60V Super Recycler? Picked one up to try this year, very excited about it.

  2. How you going to fix drainage in the zoysia? Just bring soil in and regrade everything or like French drains or both

  3. Hey Allen I was wondering what happend to all of your other mowers I don't see them in your garage anymore.

  4. I have been following this strategy for a couple of years, seems to work great on my floratam, however i consistently have diease problems on my Provista, im thinking about pulling the trigger on a FLUOPYRAM fungicide. Have you ever tried something like Broadform of Exteris? Would love to see a video on one of them.

  5. Great video! How many days should I wait to put down these fungicides if I'm putting down pre emergent and compaction cure tomorrow? I live in South FL on the east side of the state.

  6. Great video Al. Too early for preventative here in metro Atlanta where we're still dormant? I've been fighting disease the last two seasons like you and want to stay on top of it.

  7. Because we are geographically close in the Bay area, it's helpful for me to see the disease, insect applications you do and when you apply them. It's all in the lawn guides. I just don't have a good feel for WHEN. The app is a breeze for fert but these 2 things can be a DIY struggle. Thank you!

  8. Are you doing the bulletproof strat every month? I thought we were supposed to alternate groups every month to not have the pathogen build tolerance to the fungicide?

  9. I just did all of this last week so i am up to date, but my question is when do I (what month) reapply my fungicides for preventative purposes? and would you recommend laying the scotts and bio together at the preventative rate, or rotating them?

  10. I usually mow my ST.A lower in the spring time, then transition a little higher in the summer.
I might try to keep it on the lower setting because it does look sharper.
What do yall think? I live in Houston, TX not sure which variety I have, but I'd say Raleigh ST.A

  11. I'm in Northeast Florida and my lawn is kind of starting to green up a little. Can I put down herbicide now or do I need to let the grass wake up a little more? TiA!
Also what is the best pre-emergent?

  12. Since I started buying a bunch of Yard Mastery Fert, I went to Firehouse Subs and got a bunch of $3 buckets. So now every time I fertilize it smells like pickles and success!

  13. Did you mention best time to apply Fungicide in Florida?

You're in Central Florida, so are you applying once in February or are you applying a 2nd time in a few weeks?

  14. I haven’t apply fungicide on my St Augustine for the past 4 years and I haven’t had any desease. If ain’t broken don’t fix it.

  15. This is my second year with my florida st aug lawn and i am PUMPED about how things are starting for th year. That cold killing the stubborn weeds but not doing too much damage here in northern greater tampa has been a great opprtunity to get the st augustine to take back some real estate!

  16. That Bonus S
