Want to grow even MORE flowers and vegetables under grow lights? Learn how to add onto an existing grow light system for your seedlings and houseplants. I did this to all of my 5-tier shelving units as well as to my Gardener’s Supply 3-tier Sunlite Garden system. Running out of space in the grow room is not fun but there are a lot of different ways you can easily add on a few more growlights.

– PVC Pipe Cement (optional). We chose to just press fit the fittings so we can remove / reuse as needed.

For our particular shelving units, we cut the ¾ in pipe ~15.5 inches for the cross member and ~14 inches for the two verticals.

Please make sure to measure the shelving units you have to verify:
1. They are approximately 4 foot wide
2. Depth is measured so you can cut the cross member to the correct length for your shelving units.
3. You have ~1 inch diameter verticals on your shelves and some length of that is exposed at the top to slip the PVC fittings over.
4. Always, measure twice and cut once!

  1. What a timely video! Literally just looking at my shelves this morning and wondering how I'm going to fit everything. I started winter sowing a few years ago and that helps a lot but as I become a better gardener, I want to start more things indoors. Thanks!

  2. Thank you Vita.
The updated details helped a lot.
You are so responsive and intuitive to your viewer communications and very timely.
    Love your channel!
    Stay awesome!

  3. Lmao…I expanded my top shelf the same way using pvc, except I also added a top center pipe to hang lights from to keep it adjustable.

  4. Hey sis, how’s things going today? Finally getting some sun here? Wish I had more room inside for seeds starting! Can’t wait to get into my greenhouse!

  5. Great idea, thank you! Question. Why are you hiding/blocking your husband's face? I've never seen that done before. Usually people block/hide their children's face, but I've never seen it done to a spouse.

  6. We just put a couple of hooks in the ceiling and hung our lights from them. The hooks aren’t very noticeable when I take the shelves down.

  7. i added lights to the ceiling for the top shelf. i also ordered a wider shelf i ordered from Websteraunt that holds 1020 trays perfectly. i used 3 lights per shelf and the trays get full light.

  8. Hey I watch you all the time can you explain again about the fertilizer I think you micrgro the the fish fertilizer judy
