Got at a nursery, owner wasn’t sure what it was! Has an almost lemon-meets-pepper flavor to it, very aromatic. Babies grow purple, adult leaves turn green but stem is purple-ish.

Are the stems square? If so, it is some kind of mint. That’s what it looks like to me.

Definitely a Mentha genus. Just not sure which species and variety exactly.

I’d be careful tasting unlabeled plants in the future lol! I guess it’s not the biggest deal but if that nursery owner accidentally sold you a toxic ornamental plant and didn’t know what their own product was, that’s pretty sketchy

If this is a mint or mint cousin as it appears you may want to rethink having it in the ground rather than a pot, it will spread like wildfire

It’s a mint but one that was bred to have a citrus/fruity essence.
Burn it with fire! Mint outside of pots is like cancer.

That looks like a mint variety, based on your comments too. I would HIGHLY recommend getting it out of the ground and into a pot. It will spread like wildfire and out compete everything .

Does it have any clove type smell Like Holy basil does? ocimum sanctum. ?
Leaves are boiled with water and the steam helps with colds and clearing sinus. We drink the water too. Its called “panikoorkha” in Malayalam, which is the language spoken in Kerala.

Maybe lemon balm??
I think it’s [coleus amboinicus](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coleus_amboinicus). It’s commonly found here in Kerala, India.
